American Airlines Adds Flights To Fill Void Left By End Of JetBlue Alliance

Oct 12 2023

American Airlines is adding a seasonal route network from the Northeast to summer seaside destinations in and around Cape Cod as well as Maine and Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Previously most of these destinations would have been served to American’s customers by JetBlue, but that partnership is mostly through winding down after a district court judge ruled against it in an anti-trust case.

NYC Ban On Airbnb Created Massive Black Market In Home Rentals

Oct 10 2023

When you make a product or service illegal that doesn’t mean it goes away, it’s just no longer legal. See also drugs, prostitution. And that brings with it a whole host of other problems. New York City’s housing supply issues have nothing to do with Airbnb in any case. The problem is that it is too costly and cumbersome to build new housing! While other cities are looking at New York City’s Airbnb ban as a model they’d love to emulate – and hotel lobbies are pushing them to do so! – it should be a cautionary tale.

American Airlines Begins Rebuilding Its New York Strategy

Aug 06 2023

Before the pandemic American basically squatted on slots, flying as little as possible without giving up their New York assets. More domestic short flights and less international long haul from New York could be a move back in that direction. Hopefully not – hopefully they’ve learned an important lesson they’ve articulated over the past two years.

The Government Wants All Airlines Except American And JetBlue To Reduce New York Flying This Summer

Apr 27 2023

The FAA’s Air Traffic Organization is severely understaffed with controllers. New York TRACON is less than 60% staffed with fully-trained controllers. And the government is asking airlines to reduce their summer schedules out of New York airports. Ironically the government won’t let JetBlue and American Airlines fully participate to help solve this challenge.
