Rove is running its first-ever transfer bonuses – 20% to Finnair and Air France KLM. And this isn’t just for a couple of weeks, either.
On June 1 Bilt will be offering up to a 200% bonus on points transfers to Accor. This is a backdoor transfer bonus from Bilt to Air France KLM Flying Blue, and up to a 100% transfer bonus at that.
I’m a Bilt Platinum and with a 100% transfer bonus I’d surely get 2.5 cents per point in value here and double that with a companion pass strategy – and the option value in Bilt points is higher than any other currency, the more of these 100% bonuses they offer the more reluctant I am to take advantage of any one of them.
You can transfer 1,000 Capital One points into 5,600 JetBlue TrueBlue points right now. And since JetBlue points are worth about 1.3 cents apiece, that means getting 7.3 cents per Capital One point in value which is almost unheard of.
Bear in mind though that after gutting awards on Delta and devaluing ANA business class awards up to 26% without notice, Virgin Atlantic plans to move to dynamic award pricing in just two weeks. You know it’s bad when the change is about to happen and they won’t give concrete details for what to expect.
Bilt Rewards runs bigger points transfer bonuses than any other program. But they last only a day – when they come around, it’s for the first of the month, “Rent Day,” since Bilt makes rent more rewarding.
With the American Express Membership Rewards 30% transfer bonus to British Airways ending August 31, Chase is picking up the mantle. They’re offering a 30% bonus on transfers to British Airways and fellow Avios airlines Iberia and Aer Lingus through September 22, in addition to their less valuable Marriott transfer bonus which continues through September 30.
Bilt Rewards May 1st ‘Rent Day’ promotions includes a 100% bonus on points transfers to Air France KLM Flying Blue. Before Bilt ran a 100% bonus to Hawaiian Airlines there had never been a double points transfer bonus to an airline where points already transferred one-to-one. And now they’ve done it again.
And they’ve coordinated with Flying Blue to make May’s discounted ‘promo awards’ especially lucrative from North America. I haven’t seen such a great set of award discounts from Flying Blue in years.
For February 1 Bilt is offering their staple double points, up to 6 points per dollar spent, on their Bilt Mastercard. They’re also giving away free points and free tickets to Hawaii (plus paying rent for some program members). And they’re offering an unprecedented 100% transfer bonus to Hawaiian Airlines HawaiianMiles, putting free tickets, upgrades, and partner awards within reach.
Marriott has myriad airline partners – at 38 it’s way more than bank transfer programs. We’re now seeing a change to the Marriott points-to-miles transfer bonus. Specifically, the hotel chain informed customers this morning that the bonus would no longer be available on transfers to American AAdvantage, Delta SkyMiles, or Avianca LifeMiles effective October 31. Transferring 60,000 Marriott points will yield only 20,000 AAdvantage miles going forward – not 25,000.
