‘They Washed The Forks In Toilet Water’—Hotel Owner Arrested After Bathroom Video Surfaces

The owner of the Barsana BK Brijwasi Hotel in Uttar Pradesh, India has been arrested, along with his young nephew, after video went viral showing the young man washing plates in a bathroom. The boy was squatting down to use toilet water to ‘clean’ the utensils in order to recycle them for service.

The two were charged with “serving contaminated food and hurting people’s religious sentiments” the latter being a ‘very Indian’ charge.

A hotel general manager warns not to leave your toothbrush out, because housekeeping may “clean certain areas in bathrooms with a guest’s toothbrush that you don’t want to have near your mouth.” Maybe the housekeeper is in a bad mood, thinks the guest is rude, or isn’t tipping. Sometimes they don’t even change the sheets between guests.

A Beijing hotel used toilet bowl cleaner and the brush to clean glasses in the room, and a guest caught it on camera.

  1. So, which one of y’all’s gonna do the ‘Patel’ joke, again? Might literally apply here.

  2. Gary shame on you for baiting xenophobia and racism as you have done repeatedly in the past on your blog.

  3. @Un — Oh, come on… Gary’s calling out bad practices. This is not hygienic. It doesn’t matter whether it’s in Delhi, NYC, or in Taipei, Taiwan, Republic of China, which, again, is a free, sovereign country.

  4. @1990 — Dang, beat me to the punch again! Looks like the usual suspects have yet to arrive

  5. Well… “If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck …. ! ”
    …..lol…
Thanks for feeding my germophobia & worst nightmares. ! I’ve always avoided using any re-usable glassware, etc in a hotel… Sustainability & eco-friendliness be damned. This would apply to the coffee maker, of course ( and sadly I’m a coffee lover ). Anything that is not in a ( surgically, lol ) sealed package is a no-go, and even then I don’t trust corporations. but I have to live.
Don’t get me started on the hotel bedding ! Rooms are Petri dishes, just like the airlines and sadly/ironically the conditions have worsened post Co-vid. Thanks for the tip on leaving my toothbrush exposed as that was a ‘weak link’ on my part !
On a humorous note: why am I “Uttar”ly shocked to read about these stories !

  6. @L737 — I’mm’a presume (again), you’re with my on my first comment; though, you’re always welcome to join-in on pre-emptive strikes against the CCP *cough* @Un *cough* Free Tibet!

  7. @1990 — Bah! No back and forth on this today? Guess everyone’s too busy vibing to TS 1989, Taylor’s Version.

@bossa — Your pun game has been on point today!

  8. The allegation here isn’t merely that this was unhygienic but this is claimed to be essentially a hate crime against Hindus. The hotel is owned by a Muslim but marketed itself to Hindus using a Hindu name. I have no idea what the truth of the matter is, but the assertion is that this was done as a religious hate crime.
