Trump Organization Could Seek Royalties As Florida Moves To Rename Palm Beach Airport ‘Donald J. Trump International’

Washington Dulles airport could be renamed for President Trump. It’s been under discussion for at least six years. Renderings of a new terminal there expressly promotes the name as an alternative.

But perhaps the airport most likely to carry the Trump name is Palm Beach International, where legislation is underway to make it official. And just as Florida is about to make this happen, the Trump Organization files for trademarks that could extract licensing fees although they’re saying they won’t enforce them.

[T]he company is trying to get exclusive use of the name for suitcases, travel bags, animal carriers, baby diaper bags, umbrellas, luggage tags, plastic slippers used when going through security, headwear, hoodies, caps, outer jackets, skirts, dresses, footwear, collectible coins, watches and several other pieces of merchandise.

The application also looks to use the name for airport baggage check-in services, passenger shuttle services, websites, rental of aircraft hanger space, parking garage services, construction of airports, fueling services for aircraft, valet parking, airport lounges, restaurants and other services related to an airport.

The applications were filed with the United States Patent and Trademark Office on Friday for “President Donald J. Trump International Airport” and “Donald J. Trump International Airport.”

In order for the Trump Organization to license a trademarked name, there would have to be consideration. That could be just $1. The Trump Organization says they won’t receive any licensing fee from “the proposed airport renaming” but of course a proposal alone won’t generate a fee. They say they’re doing it to prevent “bad actors from infringing upon or misusing the name” in rder to protect Palm Beach County and the State of Florida. Alright then.

An amenment to one of the bills in the legislature renaming the airport would have prevented the state from paying fees or royalties for the name, but that was blocked.

  1. The perfect scam. Invest nothing, extort local government and cash in on royalties. President felon. Y’all voted for it..

  2. And the h8ters are beginning to roll out.

TDS with my morning coffee, it is so easy to get the sheeple yapping.

  3. Just NO!

Any naming of airports or other facilities should require the proposed person be deceased for at least 10 years and have made positive contributions to that industry. aviation , transportation, arts, etc.

It should preclude any monetary benefit from the naming.

  4. AFTER HITLER SHOT HIMSELF IN THE BUNKER, THE GERMANS REMOVED ALL MENTIONS OF HIS NAMES. THERE WERE NO LONGER ANY ADOLFHITLERSTRAßEN, NO ADOLPHHITLERPLÄTZEN, BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY TO THE BETTERMENT OF SOCIETY, NO MORE ADOLPH HITLER. IT IS TO BE HOPED THAT THE SAME WILL HAPPEN TO OUR LITTLE FAT MAN.

  5. According to reports from his 2018 visit to Mt. Vernon, he was surprised that Washington didn’t do more to brand himself. “If he was smart, he would’ve put his name on it. You’ve got to put your name on stuff or no one remembers you,” is the quote.

What can one say? People remember those who had good lives that helped others. And even if they don’t, that doesn’t change doing the right thing. The fear of death shouldn’t determine how one presents themselves. I’m sure none of this would make sense to him.

  6. H’m when he forced to resign over Epstein (and yes that’s where this is going unless he changes course real quick) will they remove his name? Didn’t see a lot of airports wanting to be called the Richard M Nixon airport back in the 70s and 80s.

Moreover, stop naming airports after people. Name them after the city, or a variation thereof with multiple airports within an area.

  7. Derek, among other peoples the Romans practiced what was later called, Damnatio memoriae. Look it up on Wikipedia. It’s the idea of someone being so awful that they should be erased from history. Given the number of coins, statues, inscriptions, etc. in the ancient world that was very difficult then, and with modern storage technology would be impossible now. But the concept is a solid one. At the least we can learn from our mistakes in letting such people loose on the world.

  8. @1990 – Believe me, I don’t underestimate your party’s vote adding abilities or the current party in power’s ability to muck things up. I am constantly encouraging people to vote and hope this administration continues to clean the voter rolls. Your candidate (selection) did not win a state where voter ID was required, so I am not counting anything.

  9. If anyone wants to send me a few dollars, I’ll be more than happy to let you use the “Lucky Larry” screen name!!

  10. @George Romney – 1000% agree on airport names. If anything, a minimum period of 50 years after death before an airport can be renamed. McCarran was bad enough; now it’s Harry Reid? It’s an international destination and should simply be Las Vegas International Airport.

That’s it… Keep protecting your fat, orange pedophile. You’re in a cult; get help.
