Wide Open United Airlines Business Class Award Space, All Routes Next March

United Airlines is making business class award space available in a way that will not last for travel at the end of the booking window (mid-March 2024). Book right now and cancel later if you change your mind.

This is saver award space, so it can be booked through any of United’s partners and not just via MileagePlus. For instance, Air Canada Aeroplan shows at least 9 business class award seats at a time for Houston – Sydney.

Not every route is that generous. For instance San Francisco – Papeete, Tahiti shows ‘only’ 7 business class award seats and only on March 15.

Nonetheless get your awards done now – booked through United, Air Canada, ANA, etc. just bear in mind that not all programs have generous cancellation terms.

  1. Uh….not exactly 200-300k each way. I searched about 30 min. Saw IAD-CPT just 70,000 points nonstop. SFO-AKL 80,000 pts nonstop, HNL-ORD 50,000 pts nonstop and also IAH-SYD 80,000 pts nonstop.
Really a lot of great prices. Doubt it will last long. Tempting, but gonna hang on to my Qatar award I just got for also in March to Egypt. Too good to let go and never seen the Pyramids. Otherwise, so much to choose from with this United sale. Great find.

  2. @ Gary — Grabbed a couple one ways to AKL and CDG. I bet that we end up concealing them, but great deal!

  3. Saw many dates for 2 seats SEA-IST non-stop for 70K! Unfortunately, can’t make plans at the moment and don’t want to wind up with the Chase points stuck at United if I cancel. Still, it was fun to search.

  4. @mike cialdella – did you even look before you posted? Massive saver level award availability, very atypical.

  5. I suspect this is a revenue management screwup that will get corrected very quickly

  6. Tim Dunn, your prolific comments on this site are frequently rebutted by Gary Leff. Do you have a clue as to what you’re on about right now?

  7. FA,
if availability is systemwide (or near so) and for a specific time period – often at the end of the booking period (which just opened up for new bookings), then the chances are high there was an error in allowing that much availability.
airlines don’t go from no availability of a certain group of fare or award classes in one month (that is less popular for international travel) to wide open in a period that is more in demand.

don’t try oo hard to protect United from the likely criticism that is due their revenue management.

and did you miss that United said that Boeing will have to push back dozens of MAX deliveries for 2023 into 2024 and the same will likely happen from 2024 to 2025?

UA’s aggressive growth isn’t coming this year after all…. they should have a confab w/ WN about how long they have had to wait for MAX aircraft.

Apparently ordering Airbus has been a much surer thing for airlines that want some certainty in their fleet plans
