Woman Makes Boyfriend Give Up Shirt At The Airport To Protect Her Carry On Bag

A woman is being roasted online after sharing that she was forced to gate check her carry on bag on an Aeromexico flight from Mexico to California – so she made her boyfriend “give up his shirt” so she could use it as a wrapping for the bag.

To her, the $200 Shay Michell’s BEIS carry on was worth preserving at the expense of his wardrobe.

Worried that it might get damaged, Jen then made her boyfriend sacrifice his top so that she could wrap it around the pricey suitcase and ensure it would be safe.

‘When you’re forced to check-in your new BEIS carry-on and you decide your boyfriend can buy a new shirt,’

While some people won’t consider a $200 carry on to be especially pricey (I do travel with a Rimowa Salsa Deluxe Cabin Multiwheel), and it’s certainly not a silly Louis Vuitton bag, it’s a significant purchase for this woman. I understand the impetus she feels to protect it. However,

  • it’s literally the luggage that is the outside shell meant to protect what’s inside.

  • a shirt will only protect the bag from scuffs and marks. It isn’t going to protect the bag from damage that would render it unusable.

The point of the bag is to be used. The scuff marks on a bag are badges of honor, hard-won over time through travel. If you don’t want those for your cabin bag, take steps to ensure you aren’t last to board. Or, I guess, steal your boyfriend’s shirt.

  1. An interesting concept. I wonder if a carry-on bag wrapped in a shirt gets better handling (from being marked territory?). Maybe this is the start of a new trend. I always carry a small bag inside my carry-on to carry my valuables, medicines and lithium ion batteries in such cases.

  2. If a man allows himself to be bullied like this, he deserves to go shirt-less on the flight. What rubbish. Was this an AI article?
