News and notes from around the interweb:
- The first trip report for the new SAS business class. Always good to see real improvements, better uses for Star Alliance miles.
- Scott Mayerowitz reported on the CEO of Starwood’s resignation. He apparently wasn’t happy with his success rate using Suite Night Awards.
- 500 free airberlin miles
- Tricks to get free or discounted insurance for your next car rental (My short piece over at USA Today‘s travel site.)
- I didn’t even realize Delta still flew to Cincinnati.
- Ukraine International Airlines will offer a full refund for ticket purchases if you’re denied a visa.
What is the new business class awards for Europe?
Wow – the “mattress”, pillow and duvet are by Hastens. We test “drove” their mattresses once for a miles bonus, and they cost a fortune. I mean, like a car expensive!
@TonyM awards for the new SAS business class [ie now it’s a product you don’t need to avoid]
@GaryLeff – I thought so but I couldn’t read it, I need to have that page translated! Now does SAS fly to LAX?
Like you, I thought DL had completely de-hubed CVG. They apparently still have 70% of the flights there. Wow!
Oh yes, Delta has a huge presence here in Cincinnati. They pretty much have the final say on everything related to the airport. Airport wants to buy a new de-icing machine – Delta has to say it’s okay. Airport wants to offer incentives to JetBlue, Delta has to approve it.
Contract is up I think at the end of 2015 and hopefully will be renegotiated to be more “fair”, which will hopefully lead to lower fares (we’re generally #1 or #2 in highest fares)
Well Gary – you are half right: I’m 0/2 this year on my suite night awards but both times were busy holiday periods where the hotels were sold out. As for blaming the CEO … I just tell the news 🙂
Helpful article on car insurance. Thanks.
I remember Delta’s nonstops from CVG to FRA and LHR fondly! At least CVG-CDG is still hanging in there.
