Earlier today I noted that Portland’s airport changed its official policy to allow flying with marijuana provided you’re carrying just one ounce or less onto a flight inside the state.

There are new signs at the airport warning you that you may not take pot onto flights which will take you to a destination beyond Oregon.

What I was surprised to learn today: Portland’s airport is not the first to officially change its policy to allow bringing pot onto a plane.

Commenter David G shared an email with me from the CEO of the Spokane, Washington airport (GEG).

Our policy allows marijuana to be carried on intra-state flights. The same rules apply that you have to be at least 21 years old, have an ounce or less in a container that verifies it was purchased at a state sanctioned outlet.

This applies, then, to Alaska, Horizon, and Delta Connection flights to Seattle only which I believe comprise the total intra-state flying from the airport. As much as you may want to ensure you’re fully supplied if you have to fly to Boise, that would not be permissible.

So airheads: get your Acapulco red ready for 420. Just be sure your bag of Aunt Mary is no bigger than a can and just don’t blast a joint in the airport or aircraft lavatory.
