Man Steals SUV, Crashes Into Airport, to Escape Zombie Apocalypse

Around 3 a.m. on February 17th Justin Deemie broke into a neighbor’s apartment to steal her keys. He needed her car to flee to the airport.

He drove to the Peoria airport, tried to ram the stolen SUV into the terminal, and then “breached security to get onto a tarmac and board an empty plane.”

Deemie gave up his plan to escape by air when he realized he was the only person on the plane — and broke into a sheriff’s deputy’s car by throwing a brick through its back window. He planned to drive from Illinois to Florida, but the officer simply turned off the car with a remote device.

Then they caught our hero trying to run away on foot. Justin Deemie then explained he was just trying to escape the Zombie Apocalypse.

The man was hospitalized but “that was more a result of the drugs he had consumed than any possible injuries he suffered.” The Peoria airport was shut down for about three hours, with “half dozen flights were delayed or canceled.”

The man was indicted for home invasion, damaging government property, and a variety of other criminal offenses. He faces up to 30 years in prison.

  1. Clearly putting his bona fides together to be admitted as a “Florida Man”.

  2. Remember the outrage when a woman was left outside a hospital in Chicago? So no sympathy for this guy? Granted there’s more to the story: is he a schizophrenic, under the influence, or just suffering CCB (chronic bad behavior)? Or..
    does he know something?

  3. What the hell is going on with our society, so many people freaking out and doing such stupid and often hurtful things!

  4. May I clarify, north florida man.

Certainly the nra will run a new ad that we all need guns for the unavoidable zombie apocalypse, just like the founding fathers predicted when writing the 2nd amendment.

Obviously this person didn’t think this through as he would have no problem legally getting an ar-15 and going about shooting the zombies (and liberals, and school children).

  5. I don’t understand this:

    > but the officer simply turned off the car with a remote device.
