Chase announced that the last day to transfer Ultimate Rewards points to Korean Air’s SkyPass program would be Friday, August 24 and that effective today Saturday, August 25 Korean would no longer be a Chase transfer partner.
That notice is still on the Chase Ultimate Rewards website.
However Korean Air is also still listed as a transfer partner and the website is allowing me to begin the process of initiating transfers.
In case you missed the announced cutoff but still want to move Chase points you may have a brief window to still submit transfers. I couldn’t complete a transfer myself because I am within 24 hours of my last and final transfer (and Chase has only permitted one transfer every 24 hours to Korean for some time).
Korean Air Kosmo Suites
Here are some of the Korean Air opportunities.
- They offer great first class award space between the US and Seoul and a first class cabin on many of their intra-Asia routes and they fly to more US cities than any other Asian airline. They also offer first class redemption on SkyTeam partners Saudia and China Eastern.
- Business class between the US and Europe is 80,000 miles roundtrip on SkyTeam partners. SkyTeam awards between the US and the Mideast or Africa are 120,000 miles in business class. Business class between the US and South America is just 110,000 miles roundtrip.
- Hawaii first class roundtrips on Alaska, Delta, or Hawaiian are 60,000 miles. They partner with airlines outside of SkyTeam like Emirates and Etihad, too.
- Stopovers are permitted on one-way Korean Air tickets, change fees are just $27 at current exchange rates, and infant fares cost an extra 10% of miles redeemed, rather than 10% of a full fare ticket
Delta tickets (skyteam) are only 45k points for F and 25k points for coach to Hawaii…great deal. I thought about transferring more but I think I’ll leave it alone now.
@Gary- How many points did you end up transferring to Korean? Thanks!
I got that 24 hr message yesterday too. I called chase, and the lady on the phone was able to do initiate the transfer for me. Hope that doesn’t screw me.
I moved over enough points for a RT USA-SE Asia + 3k cancel fee. This was my only use of Chase UR and it will be missed. I’ve been putting more spend on AMEX these days.
I transferred 800,000 on August 24th at 10:45 pm. They still have not posted on Korean. Chase shows points deducted. How long are transfers taking to Korean lately?
My transfer at the beginning of the month took about a week.
I’ll note that the Chase site is currently down for “upgrades.” I guess we’ll see what that means in a few hours… could either be getting Expedia integration or removing KE mileage transfers.
Annnnnnnnd KE transfers are now gone. Good luck to everyone who’s still waiting for points to post.
BUT WAIT! JET BLUE WAS ADDED TO THE LIST! It’s not as good as replacing KE but I’ll definitely take advantage of the TrueBlue transfers!
@Chad have your UR miles XFER-ed into your Korean Sky Pass account yet? Anyone else who’s miles have posted after XFER-ing last week? If so, how long was it in between transfer and posting?
I gave it a try and transferred on the 25th and it still went through. Guess someone forgot to push the cancel button.
