Why American’s New Rule Against Reimbursing Hotel Stays Is Such A Problem
There’s debate over whether changes to the American Airlines Contract of Carriage (the adhesion contract you’re agreeing to when you buy a ticket) matter or not. The airline says they’re not obligated to put you on another airline when they cancel your flight, and won’t reimburse your hotel if you submit a receipt unless they’re legally required to do so.
It’s this system of providing hotel stays I want to touch on for a moment. The airline has been saying that the only way they will cover your hotel is if they provide you with a voucher.
American AAdvantage Again Allows 5 Day Holds For Cathay Pacific Awards
American Airlines offers a generous 5 day ‘hold’ for award itineraries. You don’t have to put down a credit card or spend your miles to lock in an award option.
However back in April I identified that awards for travel on Cathay Pacific placed on hold were being cancelled out.

After American Airlines lost its pending joint venture with South American mega-carrier to Delta, they’ve been working to piece together new partnerships. They quickly partnered with Brazil’s Gol, which Delta was forced to walk away from in order to do their LATAM deal.
This morning they’ve announced a deepening of their relationship with the Brazilian airline.
Innovative Or Creepy? Japan Airlines Seat Maps Tell You Where Young Children Are
Don’t want to sit next to a lap infant on a long flight? Book your trip on Japan Airlines and pay attention to where babies are seated. Keep monitoring the seat map as your travel date approaches, in case and young children are added to the flight and change seats accordingly.
Is this every frequent flyer’s dream feature, or…?
Passenger Kicked Off Flight For Her Trump Mask. But That’s Not All It Said.
A passenger says she was kicked off of an Alaska Airlines flight because she wore a “Trump 2020” mask. She claims she was ‘discriminated against’ and has created a website to get the word out about many of the people who have had run ins with Alaska Airlines over masks as well as other, unrelated issues.
Here she is on TikTok, though the airline says she’s leaving out the most important part of the story.
