by u/Ok-Advertising3729 in Austin - Man with fake ID denied a rental car by Hertz, tried to steal vehicle and crashed a car into an employee at the airport
State police say they responded to a call about a man attempting to rent a vehicle with a fake identification on Aug. 9 at about 6 p.m. They responded to the Hertz location at Bradley International Airport and discovered two suspects who ran from officers.
A 42-year-old male suspect from Massachusetts got into a vehicle parked at the facility and attempted to drive away. Police say the driver struck a SUV owned by the rental company, which then struck a Hertz employee.
Then, the suspect in the vehicle allegedly rammed into the exit gate and disabled the car. Troopers removed the man and a female passenger, a 34-year-old Massachusetts resident, from the car.

- Supreme Court to decide whether hotel disability law ‘testers’, who identify potential violations of law, have standing to sue even though they have no intention to stay at the property (and thus do not suffer direct damages).
FINALLY. Someone Hertz SHOULD be sending to jail.
As is so often the case, the ADA started as such a great law that had countless benefits for disabled individuals. Sadly, it now is used as a blunt instrument by dirtbag lawyers looking to shake down small businesses that cannot navigate the incredibly complex web of bureaucratic regulation that has developed over the decades since ADA became law.
I’d email the Fairmont, saying that since they’re great believers in handing out free gift cards to local businesses I’d like to get some of those from them to keep up morale in my business. How could they refuse since they very obviously feel stridently in favor of doing so.
