Tara Reid Says Her Drink Was Spiked At The O’Hare DoubleTree — She Kept Falling From A Wheelchair, Then Woke Up In A Hospital With No Memory

Tara Reid was in Chicago for a celebrity signing when she says a single drink at the O’Hare DoubleTree bar left her unable to stand, captured on lobby video repeatedly slipping from a wheelchair before paramedics rushed her to a hospital. She later woke up with no memory of the night and has now filed a police report saying her drink was spiked.

She was staying at Hilton’s DoubleTree Chicago O’Hare airport. On Saturday night she went down to the hotel bar around 10:30 p.m. and ordered a glass of white wine. A man approached her, introduced himself as “Sean P,” and described himself as a successful influencer and YouTuber. They talked briefly, stepped outside to smoke, exchanged phone numbers, and came back inside.

When she returned to her seat, she says that her drink was sitting on the bar with a napkin placed over it – and that she hadn’t put it there. The last thing she remembers is taking another sip.

Her next memory is waking up roughly eight hours later in a hospital, disoriented, with no idea how she’d gotten there. She says hospital staff told her she’d been drugged. She also says she hadn’t had anything to drink beyond that single glass of wine.

In video from the hotel lobby, Reid appears barely conscious, slumped over and unable to stand. A man attempts to steady her while others bring a wheelchair. She repeatedly slips out of it, falling toward the floor as staff and bystanders try to help. Before paramedics arrived, a witness says she shouted, “You don’t know who I am. I’m famous. I’m an actress.”

Rosemont Public Safety received a medical call at 12:39 a.m. for a “sick person” at the hotel. Paramedics arrived, worked with hotel security, and took her to the hospital. At that point there was no criminal allegation. Police say they had not received any report of a drugging.

That changed on Tuesday, when Reid filed an online report with Rosemont police after returning to Los Angeles. She recounts meeting “Sean P,” sharing one drink, blacking out, and waking up in the hospital. She told police the man later texted her videos from the night and implied he could keep them from being released, which she interpreted as an extortion attempt. She also says he confirmed to her that she’d had only one drink.

Officers are reviewing hotel surveillance. There’s no identified suspect, no charges, and no public toxicology report. The available evidence consists of Reid’s account, the lobby footage showing her in a near-unresponsive state, the medical call that brought paramedics to the hotel, and her subsequent report to police. Here she is being interviewed by TMZ about what happened:

Reid has previously been kicked off a flight after getting into an altercation. She didn’t like her seat assignment, or that she didn’t have a pillow, and she claimed a flight attendant demanded she place her dog in the overhead bin.

Imagine you’re doing celebrity autograph signings and you’re spending the night before the event at the O’Hare airport DoubleTree. Kids, that’s the result of life choices.

Being photographed drunk, falling over, stumbling out of clubs, and slurring in interviews largely became her brand in the early 2000s. She had botched plastic surgery (liposuction and a breast augmentation) in 2004 and went to rehab in 2008.

Reid is known for American Pie and Sharknado and has had roles in a number of other features. She hosted E! reality series Taradise and in 2014 released a swimwear line and perfume “Shark by Tara” because of course Sharknado. She has falsely claimed to have been married to different people on multiple occasions. She froze her eggs in 2021, perhaps to avoid denying humanity more Tara Reids.

  1. @1990 – absolutely.

BTW wouldn’t buy her story. If she is so ignorant to think putting a napkin on top of her glass (common action by a bartender when someone gets up to leave for a few minutes to let others know the spot is taken and the drink isn’t to be taken away) is suspicious because she didn’t do it then nothing else in her account is worth listening to.

  2. @Retired Gambler — I mean, in this ‘attention’ economy, any news is good news, I guess. Like, I haven’t thought of this particular actor in a while, yet, here we are talking about her. The cynic in me says TMZ is basically a shadow PR entity for these types. So, if Ms. Reid ends up in more productions in the coming months or years, perhaps it’ll have paid off. How many more Sharknados do we need? An American Pie re-reunion film? Or, she can ‘recover’ like Charlie Sheen and start selling tell-all books. As Mel Brooks says in Spaceballs: ‘Merchandising!’
