- The Etihad-controlled JetPrivilege program is injecting some cash into Jet Airways to help keep it going in the form of prepurchase of travel from the carrier. Ironic, this is Etihad subsidizing a Delta partnership.
- Dave Neeleman has been involved with Morris Air, JetBlue, Azul, Westjet, and TAP Air Portugal and he’s launching a new U.S. airline. Here’s his advice to his 25 year old self.
“Everything I’ve ever been involved in that I didn’t control or run and was outside of my area of expertise I’ve lost money in,” he said. “It’s almost unanimous.”
- Priority Pass-accessible The Club at DFW has re-opened near gate 25. It’s a tiny bit larger but still only 2500 square feet, and they claim to have improved food service.
Three years ago DFW was shopping to replace the broken up lounges for different airlines and small Priority Pass lounge with an actual premium lounge. Sadly that didn’t happen.
- With Lufthansa entering the Austin – Frankfurt market (sadly for me, equipment with no first class), Condor is pulling out of the market. Condor had been scheduled to fly twice-weekly May 30 – September 26.
- Unimpressive by world standards, but Singapore Airlines Krisflyer finally offers upgrades to Gold elite members (PPS status not required!). 60,000 elite miles earns more flight miles; 75,000 a confirmed short haul upgrade; 100,000 a confirmed premium economy upgrade.
