News and notes from around the interweb:
- The largest airline pilot union reportedly tells pilots to claim to be alcoholics when caught doing something stupid that risks termination because that protects them and puts them into a diversion program.
- Chase is running a 60% transfer bonus to IHG. Please don’t do this. The transfer ratio to IHG is just too low, with an IHG point worth about half a cent.
- Once again, you do not want the hotel room your airline might provide you for free. Book your own room, and hopefully get trip delay coverage from the rewards credit card you used to buy your ticket to pay instead.
@AmericanAir can you tell if that’s eggs are dried vomit? Either way it’s the bed at the hotel you sent my family to last night.
One other question…how much bail out tax dollars did AA take to pay your executives? Unbelievably bad customer service. pic.twitter.com/aKi6VoZBPV— CB Hawk (@WLWellerNBud) January 30, 2024
- Lufthansa Mileage Bargains – e.g. Mexico City business class roundtrip for 60,000 miles
- Qatar Airways Privilege Club double qualifying points for bookings made by February 15 and travel by March 31.
- New GDS-bookable “BizFare” from Frontier Airlines will include carry on bag, premium seat, priority boarding and no change or cancel fees.
The link to ALPA encouraging people to claim alcoholism is misleading. This is the opinion of the one pilot. Also the doctor was working more for Delta than ALPA and had his medical licensed revoked. I know pilots who have been through the program and don’t think anyone would see that as an advantage for them. It’s a way to get a second chance but everyone I’m aware of says it’s a difficult path that takes a year or more from your career.
