British Passenger Smashes 10 Airport Kiosks With Metal Pole—Faces Prison For Viagra Possession

Just before 6:00 a.m. on February 16, 2026, a 35-year-old British man who had been in Hong Kong since November went to the airport to buy a ticket out of the region of China. He became agitated at the kiosks. He shoves one hard enough to tip it, then moves along the line and pushes additional units, downing multiple machines.

He then grabs a long metal pole, raises it overhead and brings it down toward the toppled kiosks, striking repeatedly while standing over the fallen equipment. Pieces remain scattered. After the smashing, he walks away from the kiosk line. In total, he damaged 10 self-service check-in kiosks, as well as metal barriers, nearby counters, and a glass panel.

Airport staff warned him to stop and called police. Police found him at the airport’s bus drop-off area. He was arrested for:

  • Criminal damage (up to 10 years imprisonment)
  • Possession of Viagra (illegal possession of Part I poisons carries a maximum penalty of a HK$100,000 fine and 2 years imprisonment)

The airport said brought in replacement kiosks. I get the rage over unreliable kiosks. I wasn’t expecting the consequence of this to be imprisonment for Viagra.

Passengers losing it at airline check-in is hardly unusual. Here’s a woman in Mexico City going behind the ticket counter and smashing airline computers. Here, a JetBlue passenger destroyed JFK check-in after being denied a ticket to Haiti. And only somewhat relatedly, a naked woman at DFW airport screamed “I speak all languages,” tossed a drink, and smashed a boarding door on the D concourse.

  1. They don’t take kindly to that sort of outburst and destruction in China. He’s going to get a long extension on his original three-month stay, and probably not in a facility as nice as the one he was in previously.

  2. Dumb a%s is going to learn the justice system in China is nothing like the UK (or US.) Hope he enjoys his ten years in the gulag.
