Star Alliance Business Class Award Space to Europe Available for the Whole Family!
United Airlines has opened the business class award floodgates on several flights between the US and Europe for next summer with as many as 9 (and perhaps more) award seats per flight.
This is especially concentrated out of Washington Dulles, though there are some flights out of Chicago like this and even a few from Newark. It’s especially true on flights that have recently been upgauged to Boeing 777s, though not exclusively. (Legacy United Boeing 777 business class is dorm-style 8-across, but if fully flat.)
Free Trip to Europe for Joining the Amazing Race for Regular Folks
Many of you know that I offer an award booking service. It grew too big to handle on my own, and I was fortunate enough to be able to partner with one of the real veterans and gurus in the frequent flyer game, Steve Belkin (known in online forums as ‘beaubo’).
One of the really fun projects he’s had is called Competitours. Every summer, Steve disappears from work to run what the Chicago Tribune calls “The Amazing Race for Regular People.”
Meet the Congressman That’s #1 About Going Number Two
28 years ago Alaska Airlines predicted that their competitors would be charging coach passengers to use the lavatories.
Rep. Dan Lipinski (D-Ill.) has introduced the Comfortable and Fair Flights Act of 2015 which would prohibit airlines from charging passengers to use the lavatory. Even though no airline has ever done it.
Why Are We So Afraid of Premium Economy?
I’m actually reasonably excited about yesterday’s American Airlines announcement that they’ll be adding a premium economy product to their international widebody fleet (other than their Boeing 767s which are slated for retirement).
The only meaningful downside, it seems to me, is the potentially bad news surrounding the unanswered question of how upgrades will work — whether the introduction of premium economy means that upgrading from economy will mean a premium economy seat, rather than a business class seat. But it doesn’t have to mean that at all.
Starwood Just Added a New Star Alliance Transfer Partner With Fantastic Business/First Class Award Pricing
Starwood’s Starpoints are already the most valuable loyalty program currency.
They have the most airline transfer partners where points transfer 1:1 and of course when you move Starwood points into 20,000 miles you get 5000 bonus miles. That gets you effectively a 1:1.25 transfer ratio with most airline partners.
Now they have a new transfer partner that may just offer the single best Star Alliance award chart. Here’s why.
Executive Assistant to Delta Senior Vice Presidents Stole $280,000 With Delta American Express Card
A former executive assistant to two Delta Senior Vice President made $280,000 in personal charges on her company American Express card between 2007 and 2014.
Apparently she “used another person’s credentials to log onto Delta’s online expense-approval system and approve the expenses..”

United’s New International Business Class Seat is Coming Next Year
We’ll start to see United’s new business class product in Boeing 777-300ERs that they’ll start to receive at the end of 2016.
United started previewing the seat in early September. A reader shared an invitation to a United event where it was being unveiled privately. They’ve worked hard to keep it under wraps, and United spokesman Rahsaan Johnson refused to confirm details offering only, “It may be… Or may not be.”
47,000 Points for $136 and Very Little Work
About 3 weeks ago I mentioned an offer where you can get 47,000 IHG Rewards Club points for $47. It was a lot of work, though easy to do sitting in front of the TV one night. I’ll walk you through that again.
But if you don’t want to do the work yourself, a reader will do it for you for a small fee. I’m taking them up on it myself.
