I wrote last month about amazing business class award availability on Austrian across all of their US routes. Some of that space is still out there, and you can use miles with United, Aeroplan, LifeMiles, or other Star Alliance carriers to book it.

A couple of days ago I wrote about phenomenal award availability on United’s Brussels and Amsterdam flights. More opportunities to book not just one or two seats in business class across the Pond.

In general I’m finding good transatlantic business class award space with seats regularly available on British Airways OpenSkies between New York and Paris-Orly, Air France to Paris (using Flying Blue miles) and Lufthansa through both Munich and Frankfurt (but that’s not really new).

Tiffany at One Mile at a Time points out that there’s amazing availability to and from Asia using Star Alliance member EVA Air.

EVA Air offers a business class product that’s four abreast on the Boeing 777-300ER. That means all aisle access.

The seat is reverse herringbone and very similar to what Cathay Pacific, American Airlines, and others offer. It’s one of the best business class seats in the sky in my opinion.

They offer pre-order meals in their business (“Royal Laurel”) class and onboard internet.

Starting in November we see good availability for four or more passengers per flight in business class. Availability is similar in both directions, between Chicago and Taipei and back as well. And in spring, with EVA’s expanded schedule, availability is truly out of this world good.

November through April we see availability look like this — dotted lines mean availability — for 4 business class award seats Chicago – Taipei.

Starting in May there’s availability nearly every single day at this level.

Unfortunately it’s only Houston that gets EVA Air’s Hello Kitty service.

You can use flights to Taipei as a great jumping point to Northeast Asia, China, and Southeast Asia using EVA’s extensive route network:

• United charges 80,000 each way between the US and North or South Asia for business class awards. Chase points transfer to United.

• LifeMiles charges 75,000 each way between the US and North Asia and 78,00 between the US and South Asia for business class awards. LifeMiles frequently sells miles cheap.

• Aeroplan charges 75,000 each way between the US and Asia south to Hong Kong, and 77,500 each way between the US and South Asia for business class awards. Membership Rewards points transfer to Aeroplan.
