My award booking partner, Steve (author of the recent book Mileage Maniac) operates an ‘Amazing Race For Normal People’ team travel competition to Europe once a year. Competitours.com features unique and compelling challenge activities that push you gently out of your comfort zone.
Your routing is a mystery, with each day’s location only revealed with a few hours’ notice. The destinations zig zag around the nooks and crannies of Western Europe- so forget the well-beaten tourist path. There are no eliminations and no one gets left behind as teams transfer to another destination. It’s a game, but the vibe for winning the cash grand prize is more like a friendly poker game, not a fight to the death like the TV show.
Competitours attracts a curious and spontaneous crowd. So, I’d like to play into that by offering readers the chance to prove if you are indeed Competitours material. If you and a partner are definitely free June 24 – July 4 and you register for the trip by Tuesday, March 29 (that’s the spontaneous angle!), I will kick in $1000 for your team. Just send me proof of your registration form, and you can represent Team VFTW (or really any other team name you decide). I’m all-in to subsidize two teams, so early birds gets the grand.
70% of the 10 teams of two in 2019 were repeat teams and 30% of 2022 are already repeaters as well – people like it enough to do it again. I’ll be on the sidelines for the trip (I have another one with family that conflicts) so would love to live vicariously through a couple of readers.
And if you want to learn more before signing on you can pull this documentary about Competitours.
Interesting…..
I would do this for a thousand pesos and a donkey show.
My SO has always wanted to do The Amazing Race, but we have no hook. This actually seems like a reasonable alternative that may be a lot of fun. Summer is already planned, but there’s always next year.
So there’s two of us now? Oh my.
My auto fill decided to start using my acting name. It must have known…..
Most fun we’ve ever had traveling. In fact, so fun we did it twice and are planning our 3rd for next year. Steve is clever and unpredictable, and the trips are unforgettable.
Will you pay it in Rubles instead given the super high food and gas prices in Europe and the requirement energy sent to Europe be paid in rubles?
If we weren’t having a baby shortly before then, I’d be all over it!
Beaubo continues to be a legend.
