Air India is Furious After FAA Refuses to Let Chicago Flight Take Off Because of Seat Belt Problems

Friday’s Air India Chicago – Delhi flight AI126 was delayed — because the FAA wouldn’t allow the plane to leave. Inspectors found missing tags displaying technical standard order numbers on seat belts of 44 passenger seats and 12 flight attendant seats.

Passengers Suing JetBlue For Failing to Turn on Seat Belt Sign Before Turbulence Struck

Turbulence is dangerous and it can come out of nowhere taking passengers and crew by surprise. That’s why airlines tell you — and it’s a good idea — to keep your seat belt fastened even when the seat belt sign is off. And the instruction is to keep it fastened low and right across your lap.

Airlines Are Still Bumping Passengers Who Already Boarded Flights, And They Aren’t Always Entitled to Compensation

When an airline substitutes a smaller plane than the one originally scheduled, airlines aren’t required to compensate passengers under DOT rules.

On a 50 seat regional jet (or any aircraft of 30-60 seats) DOT rules do not require airlines to provide involuntary denied boarding compensation at all.
