Qatar Airways CEO Akbar al-Baker declared that ‘on “crap American carriers” you’ll “always be served by grandmothers.”

Qatar Airways CEO Akbar al-Baker is perhaps the most colorful man in aviation with a bit of a history of a truth problem. He makes bold and brash claims, he’s a salesman, and only once in awhile those claims wind up backed up by reality such as his airline’s new business class which is the best in the world.

The biggest risks for an airplane are during takeoff and landing. Safety rules are designed to ensure that passengers have unrestricted egress to exits, and that loose items in the cabin don’t become physical threats if knocked around or thrown.
Sometimes the safety rules seem extreme to passengers, for instance you can’t have items larger or heavier than a cell phone or glasses in the seat pocket during takeoff or landing.

Online travel agency sites have a role to play because as poor as most of them are, they do a better job displaying a broader range of choices than just Hilton, just Marriott, or just Hyatt. In other words they actually add value to consumers.
