  1. Fights are full of Hood Rats and Thugs. You shouldn’t be allowed past TSA wearing house shoes or a onesie. I see this weekly and started when people started flying after COVID

  2. What’s wrong with that Frontier flight? I see nothing, but the racists in the comments section (John Dogas? Amy Fischer?) are going to present themselves to tell us about how there are too few white people onboard.

I know platy from Down Under is going to stand up for me–if his comment makes it out of the moderation queue!

  3. Question: is it “woke” to try to say any behavior is inappropriate? What about our “freedom?”

  4. Mr. Baldazana’s op-ed, though grounded through an economic prism, missed the critical infrastructure limitations of why the slot system is in place.

The slot regime at DCA was not instituted to protect IAD – the 1250 mi perimeter rule was. The slot system came about as a result airline industry scheduling practices during the late 60s that led to literal airfield gridlock at ORD, the major NYC facilities, and DCA. As airline networks and airport infrastructure evolved since that era, the FAA managed to relax – if not remove outright – caps on operations at ORD and certain major Northeast airports.

During the era of the slot system, there was one notable attempt to revoke slot rules which ended in failure – LGA during 1999 and 2000. Carriers overscheduled LGA to such extremes that by 2003, the slot system was reinstituted.

LGA & DCA share similar characteristics in terms of capacity. But DCA is a bit more constrained – a single runway for mainline operations (FAA Aircraft Design Group 3 and higher). And while my understanding is that ADG Group 2 (CRJ-200/ERJ-145) often operate from Runway 15-33, there are certain meteorological conditions that will obviate its usage. DCA effectively becomes a single runway airport.

That said – and returning partially to the economics theme – DCA remains a high demand airport. Mere proximity and more convenient access to D.C. proper will drive demand that propels new entrants or expanded service from incumbents. I think Baldazana’s suggestion of a “shadow slot system” (threat of slot reimplementation) and the girth of AA at DCA being a deterrent somewhat flies in the face of airline industry history.

If air carriers believes a market will be profitable, they will fly to the local airport serving that market – and often despite facility limitations that hinder day-to-day operations.

  5. It’s “racist” to point out the truth in cases like this. They may behave like uneducated, poorly raised denizens of the ghetto and they may appear in a very large percentage of such incidents but don’t date mention that, lest someone might identify the source(s) of the problem. No, you have to pretend that these things are just random and involve anybody (aside from educated coastal elites, of course).

Just ask UA GS @ SFO; they are one of those who would send you to a re-education camp if you don’t fall in line and thus are a “raaaaacist”.

  6. Jerry Springer has passed away. But his ways of entertaining an audience live on in VFTW.

Airport brawls, meet your parent the talk show brawls.

  7. Chad,

With all the Lord Trump worshippers still making excuses for Trump’s scummy behavior, it seems like the past and present Trump fans club has been the epitome of “woke”.

  8. @ UA GS @ SFO

Oh no! I just booked a MIA-LAX on JetBlue for my upcoming visit (MINT throne seats, naturally)…will it be filled with American Express carrying Floridians wearing De Santimonious lanyards…should I change hotel – I assumed that the Miami Beach EDITION would be too cool for “uneducated, poorly raised denizens of the ghetto” racists such as Chad, Joseph, and AngryFlier, to quote AngryFlier…???

Does Joseph’s plea for “freedoms” extend to the airlines allowing boarding to my Agile Wallaby assistance animal?

Will my booking at the EDITION be automatically cancelled if Gov Ron’s Geheime Staatspolizei spot a transgender person at the hotel bar and demand that the whole place be shut down before my stay? Because surely that epitomises the non woke delusion of right wing “freedoms” extolled by our own Joseph herein…

What should I say to Tucker on my day trip to Gasparilla Island…surely he would take heart after being fired from Fox News, if he knew the good folk of VFTW commentariat include people of such racist and adoring dispositions?

Is it worth doing the Wednesday buffet banquet at the Mar-a-Largo Club Dining Room, if I don’t eat lobster? Imagine the shite fight when the Almas Caviar from albino female sturgeons runs low…

A larrikin Aussie in MAGA-land, Florida – what could possibly go wrong that a few friendly beers or, in the worst case scenario, a bottle of SQN Non Tant Pis (Grenache) couldn’t fix?!

    Can’t wait!

  9. platy: What a ridiculous comment.

AngryFlyer: I couldn’t have said it better myself.

To everyone else: this is a pristine example why the lower classes should not be allowed on airplanes.

  10. @ Wofford John H.

It’s called taking the piss, mate, Aussie style.

Class isn’t all about your law (or any other) degree / profession practice and your self perception of social status. No wonder the dog whistle and racist politics of the right wing can gain traction with folk like your good self in the community.
