Silvercar May Be Expanding Soon to 3 New Airports

Rumor has it that Silvercar will be expanding to Phoenix, Seattle, and Denver by the end of the second quarter of the year.

Silvercar is the new rental outfit that offers only Audis, and ‘includes everything’ – GPS, wireless internet, SiriusXM radio, and even toll tracking (you pay only the actual cost of tolls you use) and refueling at market rate (you don’t refill the tank and you’re charged the actual cost of gas plus $5).

It’s a great experience overall, a premium experience, so can be priced accordingly. But I find many airport midweek rentals from the major agencies to be just as expensive and Silvercar is offering a better value proposition for many, certainly for all but the top-tier rental car elites (though they don’t offer miles).

I made my first Silvercar rental a week ago in Austin and with some of the introductory deals available now it can be quite inexpensive on a first-time basis. I paid $9+tax ($13 all-in) and earned a $25 credit for being referred by an existing member (that is, entering a referral code into my profile, I used a reader’s code).

  • Silvercar will give you $50 off your first rental.

  • And then when you register you can add the referral code of an existing member. You and the referrer will get a $25 credit once you rent. My referral code is GLEFF, anyone can use that and get a $25 credit after renting, you’re also welcome to leave your referral code in the comments.

Currently they’re only at Austin, both Dallas airports, Los Angeles and San Francisco. So this would be real expansion. And it might suggest that they aren’t flailing, the way I worried when they shuttered their Houston outpost.

  1. I used it just yesterday, so it was good at least until then.

Also, they’d really light my fire if they came to LAS. A curbside pickup and avoiding the LAS centralized off airport rental center would be amazing!
