American Airlines has filed suit against the City of Chicago over their plans to take gates away from the airline at O’Hare airport and give more gates to United. American’s position seems reasonably strong, but it’s hardly a slam dunk. American is on solid ground, but a court could buy an alternative start date for the ramp up. And winning the timeline is the linchpin for an injunction.

Senator John Fetterman was filmed getting into a verbal altercation with the pilot of an American Airlines regional jet on a trip from Washington’s National airport to Pittsburgh. Following the earnings call each quarter, American Airlines executives gather for a ‘State of the Airline’ event with employees. Copies of this event regularly get sent to me, which are fascinating to listen to.

Not surprisingly since executives were reviewing the quarter, the 5342 disaster was background to much of the discussion. When they started talking about the team that’s been set up to support the families of victims, I broke down in tears. I just could not stop crying. Here’s why.
