New Avis Warning About Discounts You May Not Be Eligible For

The very first legal nastygram this blog ever received – 17 years ago, if memory serves – was from Avis over posting a list of their discount codes. There was nothing wrong about such a posting, of course.

People have long used discount codes to reduce the cost of their car rentals. Some they may be eligible for, others that are for employees of specific companies or members of specific associations that they aren’t eligible for.

United Discounted Awards to London

In addition to discounted coach awards to Sydney, United is offering coach awards between the U.S. and London for 35,000 miles for travel through March 31.The text of the offer says You must book your award ticket online only. However, the terms and conditions of the offer sayYou may purchase the reduced award through united.com or through United Reservations (call 1-800-UNITED1). The $15 booking fee is waived. Discounted United Awards to/from China

United is offering discounted coach award seats between the US and Beijing or Shanghai for just 45,000 miles. Travel must be complete by March 31. This offer can only be redeemed by phone, not online, but the standard $15 telephone booking fee is waived (good call, United).
