American Airlines Cut Coach Drinks In January—Now They’re Reversing Course As Premium Pivot Begins

In January, American Airlines stopped doing second drink service on long domestic coach flights. By making passengers request a second drink, either making you press the flight attendant call button and risk angering crew or heading to the galley for a drink and risk angering crew, the airline would save money on soda. They’ve reversed course quickly.

American Airlines Suspends Most Food & Beverage Service, And I’m Not Sure It’ll Fully Come Back

With load factors in the 20s, it makes sense for passengers to spread out and social distance from each other on the plan. And where possible it makes sense to limit interaction between flight attendants and passengers right now, too.

Changes to American Airlines food and beverage service go into effect this Friday, March 27. They aren’t offering anything for sale in coach, to limit credit card swipes. They won’t service meals in first class except on routes long enough where they figure they have to. And there’s more to it than that.

American Airlines Will Start Rotating Snack Baskets Much More Often Starting October 9

Currently American Airlines changes up their domestic first class snack baskets every six months. I don’t love most of what they offer, and boy the contents get boring after awhile. The last changeover was April 10.

While I don’t think the new choices starting October 9 are better the good news is that the airline will begin rotating out contents every two months beginning with this next refresh. Here’s what’ll be in the new baskets.
