Don’t Forget to Get Money Back When the Price of Your Airline Ticket Falls

Years ago it was common to be able to request a credit when you bought a ticket, and the fare for the same flights dropped. Airlines used this to give you confidence buying and not waiting. You could lock in a price, protecting yourself against price increases, while not worrying that you might be overpaying.

Of course most people didn’t claim any money back. Most people buy a ticket and don’t check the price again later. Services popped up to automate this, and airlines because less customer-friendly. However several airlines are still fairly flexible giving you credits back.

JetBlue’s Founder is Starting a New US Airline With $100 Million and 60 Planes

Dave Neeleman founded JetBlue after his non-compete from Southwest’s acquisition of Morris Air where he was CEO expired. During that non-compete period he was involved in the launch of Canada’s WestJet.

A citizen of Brazil as well as the U.S. (and also now of Cyprus), Neeleman launched Brazilian carrier Azul after being forced out at JetBlue. He’s also a partner in Star Alliance carrier TAP Air Portugal.

The Only Hotel Opening Next Year I’m Genuinely Excited For

A couple of days ago the developers of the new TWA Hotel unveiled a model guest room for the property that opens next year. It’s not inside the old TWA terminal itself (yet). Instead the guest room and hotel hallway are inside a vacant hangar at JFK Airport’s Building 87.

Inside the building is Jack Frye’s desk and chair, he was President of TWA from 1934 to 1947. They’ve even got TWA fire extinguishers. Yes the hotel will have a TWA museum.
