ViaSat internet has been free. They’ve been working out kinks since the beginning. On the inaugural 737 MAX flight at the end of November ViaSat internet simply didn’t work much. When it did work it wasn’t fast.
ViaSat installations are working better now. A few planes have Gogo and ViaSat retrofits now. And American is prepared to start charging in March.

Last night a man scaled a fence at LAX, ran up to a Southwest Airlines plane that was preparing to depart, and set off a landing gear fire extinguisher on the Boeing 737.
The man ran back toward the fence he had come in over. He was arrested “with the help of a police dog” who apparently also bit him.
Southwest Runs Out of De-Icing Fluid, Cancels 220 Flights in Chicago
Southwest Airlines was founded in Texas but its single biggest airport operation is at Chicago Midway. However they forgot that Chicago gets cold, and they ran out of de-icing fluid yesterday having to cancel the rest of the day’s flights — 220 in total.

An arbitrator ordered that a Southwest Airlines maintenance worker be re-instated and given back pay — minus funds he received during the time he wasn’t employed by Southwest.
That means his income from a job with an aviation school credits against the wages he would have earned. And it includes $25,000 donated to him via a GoFundme page.
