Texas And Mississippi Are Dropping Their Mask Mandates, What Does That Mean For Travel?

Mississippi Governor Tate Reeves is lifting mask mandates in the state and allowing businesses to operate at full capacity starting Wednesday. Texas Governor Greg Abbott announced that capacity restrictions on businesses and mask requirements will be lifted next Wednesday.

The short answer is this means very little for travel including travel to, from, and in states where state and local mask and other requirements are lifting.

EPA Approves Chemical To Disinfect American Airlines Planes, But Only For Flights Departing Texas

Since American Airlines only performs electrostatic spraying every 7 days a persistent chemical application is needed (in contrast to other airlines striving to spray between every flight). SurfaceWise 2 will kill viruses for at least a week.

The EPA has approved use of the chemical – but only for application in Texas airports and for flights departing Texas.

I Kinda Wish I Lived in Texas

Because Reliant Energy offers American Airlines miles for using their electricity. The ‘up to 7500 miles’ are broken up and awarded after the 2nd, 6th, and 12th invoices. And I don’t know what their pricing etc. is like. But miles are the second reason (no state income tax is the first) for me to consider moving to Texas.
