  1. Simple reason for larger aircraft pilots being more highly compensated…higher liability. The increased cost of the aircraft and the higher amount of passengers equals higher liability. Would you really want a 10,000 hour pilot to be the captain of an A380?

  2. The actual rationale behind wide body pilots being paid more money is quite simple, they are making more money for the airline per flight than their narrow body brethren. They therefore share in that increased productivity. The Airline Pilot’s Association (ALPA) has been successfully negotiating contracts using that rationale for many decades.
