The standard bonus for the Alaska Airlines Visa is 25,000 miles, and it’s been offered with as much as 40,000 miles in the past.
But 30,000 miles appears to be the best current offer.
The offer is for 25,000 miles on approval (no minimum spending) and 5000 more miles “for being a customer.”
There doesn’t appear to be any verification that you need to be a pre-existing customer, that they will do anything like check to see whether you have bank accounts with them already for instance, and I’d bet that anyone — even folks who have never had a Bank of America account before — will get the full 30,000 miles. Though since they only promise it to folks as a thank you for being a customer (gee, getting upproved for the card makes you a customer, no?) I suppose it isn’t guaranteed.
At this point if you are going to apply for a Bank of America Alaska Airlines Visa Signature, there’s not a good reason not to use this link since I believe there isn’t any other current offer better than 25,000 miles (if other larger offers are still functional please let me know in the comments). So worst case you’d get that but likely the full 30,000.
I appreciate folks returning with their experiences using this link!
The card comes with a $75 annual fee and a $99+tax companion certificate valid for any coach seat in conjunction with a pad ticket (both tickets earn miles).
Hat tip to reader Murtuza and for clarity’s sake this is not my link, I don’t get any credit of any kind if you use it. It just seems like a better than usual offer from an issuer without a lot of products that compete for your attention otherwise.

Immediately approved.
Beware of the fine print. There are 3 tiers of this card. I applied when there was the $100 statement credit and got approved for the worst one possible, with only 5,000 miles signup bonus. The annual fee is only $50 for my version, so I came out winning in monetary terms nonetheless, but now have 5,000 worthless miles.
Auto-approved. I assume you have to be flying for the companion ticket? I can’t buy a ticket for my parents to come visit B1G1?
@Paul — You must either be flying OR paying for the tickets (you don’t even need to use the Alaska VISA card!), so YES your folks can use the BOGO$99.
The 25k with $100 statement credit offer is still available when booking a ticket on the Alaska Airlines web site. So one would need to decide if the extra 5k miles was worth $100 (you are basically paying 2-cents per mile).
This longtime reader remembers your many multiple trips flying upfront using that $99 companion cert. Hmm. BOA. I may be due. 😉
Sadly the companion ticket is no longer valid for paid first class 🙁
This is churnable, right? How long do you have to wait between cards to get the bonus? I didn’t see anything in the fine print. Thanks.
I had an Alaska card which I cancelled 7 months ago as annual fee hit. Can I re apply and get another now? I’ve a high credit score.
Which credit agency does BOA pull from? Had an app o rama just two months ago (got four and rejected by two)!
should add that I got the same card 9 months back
@gary I have this card, can I apply for another one and get the 30K?
I got approved again for same card in 2 months. I’d to call in and speak to a credit analyst. I told them I wanted to split my expenses. They took $2000 off my existing Alaska Card and approved new one for 5K.
I filled out the application, hit submit and got this message:
We apologize for any inconvenience.
The application you are requesting is currently unavailable.
Thank you for your interest.

The 30K link above is bad as of today 5/23/14.
I found your article and link of Nov. 16, 2013 for the Marriott 70K points with 1K spend still active. Could this still be active? Would like to use it if it still is up.
@Late – i believe it is
how long do i have to wait before i can use the companion pass?
the link is not working again. any help? thanks!
The link is not working for me.
Since you still have this in your “Best Deals” and it hasn’t worked for at least 6 months, I think it is time for an update…
Sorry, it’s under Recommended Credit Card Offers.
I have flown with Alaskan on my travel to Alaska. It is a good deal. Know more on my travel on http://www.yogiktraveller.com
