News and notes from around the interweb:
- That was fast: The second set of dates for Frequent Traveler University Advanced has already sold out.
- Shorter Gary Leff: The LA Airspace blog offers a much more succinct version of my advice on what to do if your frequent flyer account gets audited. All of my posts could probably use a ‘shorter Gary Leff’ version for readers who find me too verbose…
- Something intended for American Express customers in Europe: You can apparently get free Gold status for new Club Carlson accounts if you register with an address in Europe using a specific offer form.
- Earn miles for killing time in the airport. The American Airlines Admirals Club in the Dallas Forth Worth C Terminal has an Avis golf game giving out a small handful of miles.
- Citibank American Airlines Executive Card annual fee appears to count. I received my 10,000 American elite qualifying miles after $40,000 spend on the card even though my actual purchases were about $250 shy at statement close.
- Jurisdiction matters: The girl who made the ill-advised threat against on Twitter has apparently been arrested in the Netherlands. So watch out how vocal you get about the North American gateway stopovers, people!
- You can join the 40,000+ people who see these deals and analysis every day — sign up to receive posts by email (just one e-mail per day) or subscribe to the RSS feed. It’s free. You can also follow me on Twitter for the latest deals. Don’t miss out!
Are you sure it wasn’t about $200, due to the statement credit you get with sign up?
And LAX club also has this game.
I played it at JFK and I believe ORD has it as well
$40,000 in spend already?? That’s pretty insane.
I would guess it is all manufactured spending
I assume you have 2x Citibank American Airlines Executive Card. Any reports that you can get 2x10k EQMs?
@Alan no doesn’t matter how many Exec cards you have, you will only get 10k EQM
Have you noticed it’s practically impossible to find a United Saver Award since US Air left Star Alliance? Previously most of the saver awards were on US Air now they’re practically non-existent. Just another way they are devaluing the program. At some point people are just going to give up on these programs. It’s not really that rewarding when you have to burn through 50,000 miles for a domestic coach ticket. All it does is frustrate some of their most loyal customers. Very penny wise pound foolish of them.
@Mark – domestic flights are tough, international flights won’t see much different availability.
