Comment Here for a Chance to Win American AAdvantage Miles and Lounge Passes!

A couple of weeks ago I wrote that American Express Platinum cards would still get you into US Airways and American lounges through the end of April.

Platinum cards lost access a month ago. Citibank is now the sole issuer of cards that offer lounge access with the new American Airlines.

And they’ve got – by far – the best credit card offer in the market with a 100,000 mile signup bonus for their Executive Card which bundles American and US Airways lounge access.

This month they’re ready to tell you about this card in American and US Airways lounges. If you come in with a card that used to come with lounge access, they’ll give you a club pass (valid for a year).

They’ve also given me plenty of miles and club passes to give away here on the blog!

I stopped into one club yesterday. And I discovered that they weren’t just giving away lounge passes (I picked one up that I’ll give away this weekend at Frequent Traveler University) but also giving away swag. They had dark chocolate in credit card wrappers. I ate that.

I figured, since Citi is being especially generous right now, why not share that with readers? I reached out they’ve generously offered to provide readers with miles and lounge passes for me to give away (for full disclosure I am not being compensated by Citibank, nor am I keeping any of the prizes for myself).

Here are the prizes:

  • Grand Prize: 25,000 American AAdvantage miles and 4 American Admirals Club passes
  • Four Additional Prizes: 4 American Admirals Club passes (each)

So here’s how you enter.

  1. Leave a comment on this blog post. Answer the question, “what do you really like about an airline lounge?”
  2. Enter by Noon Eastern, Sunday April 27. That’s 5 days from this writing, and there are five prizes.
  3. Enter no more than 5 times. Five prizes, five days to enter, you can enter by commenting up to five times. (It doesn’t have to be one per day, it can be five in a row if you wish.)
  4. Five prize winners will be drawn at random. As in past, I will use random.org for the drawing.
  5. Fine print. Void where prohibited by law. All of my decisions are final and unappealable, I want to make giveaways as easy as possible and with the fewest headaches possible. Redemption of Admirals Club passes are subject to Admirals Club Terms of Service and AAdvantage miles are subject to AAdvantage program terms.

So, what do you really like about an airline lounge?

  1. What I most like are the showers, when I’m spending the night or most of it as a layover.

  2. My favorite part of an airline lounge is a quiet place to charge my phone and/or tablet. I am addicted to technology and there is nothing like being able to plug in and work while relaxing instead of hunting down an outlet in the terminal.

  3. What I really like about air port lounges is that when I take my teenage sons the free cokes and snacks make them feel like VIPs

  4. Best thing is usually the shower after a long haul flight, next is a quiet space to have a drink.

  5. A quiet place away from the chaos that I can rely on to provide me a (comfortable!) place to sit, gather my thoughts and plan for the next phase of my journey.

  6. Great place for long layovers and comfortable area with free wifi and a glass of wine

  7. I went to the Admirals Club in MIA last week, I showed the front desk agents my Platinum Amex and they told me I couldn’t get in. I told them that I have read about the club pass for cards that used to have access like the one I was showing to them, they said, that they didn’t know anything about that. That AA decision was “very set in stone”. Maybe they haven’t got the memo yet?

  8. I really like…no, I LOVE getting off a long international flight and getting a shower room. There’s nothing better to help me get a jump start on the new day.

  9. A nice beverage and a light snack before taking off. Hard to beat a solid lounge for a pre-flight experience.

  10. Drinks are nice but having a comfortable seat is the best, the boarding area seats are a zoo and not comfortable usually.

  11. I like visiting a lounge I’ve never visited before and seeing what they do differently than the others I have seen. This is expecially enjoyable when I get to visit a foreign carrier’s lounge.

  12. I like the exclusivity and eliteness of access, and resulting good feelings that arise from having access

  13. Calmness, snacks and WiFi in the midst of airport chaos would be my top three reasons for loving lounges.

  14. and opportunity to carb load on yummy salty kibble before boarding a long flight with no food.

  15. I’ve never used a lounge before, but am getting ready to take my fammily to Europe next summer. I would LOVE to be able to shower and let my girls recharge a bit before tackling a day of sightseeing. I would so love the miles and lounge access to make a once-in-a-lifetime family trip!

  16. its a place the relax before the flight. i am extremely busy pre-flight and its not to go to a place where there is peace and quiet to be able to think and relax

  17. Quiet, relaxing area where I can be productive while enjoying a drink in a place that doesn’t remind me of an airport.

  18. The agents tend to be some of the best and can really help with rebooking and flight changes.

  19. I don’t know! I’ve never been in one! (Gasp!). But I think I’d like the refreshments and space to relax.

  20. It feels like a home away from home. I am always traveling and the lounge is the only common thing in my travels.

  21. I really like airline lounges that have showers, as it offers a great opportunity to refresh before the next flight and feel much better.

  22. A nice place to stretch out, regroup, charge phones and refresh before the flight.

  23. Quiet…usually quieter than the gate area. No overhead announcements. I wouldn’t call lounges peaceful, but they are calmer.

  24. Serenity from the masses… Airline Lounges bring back the fun of flying like back in the days.

  25. I like doing ;lounges correctly :).
First you need to scout the lounge for all the amenities. Does it have a shower, sleeping room what about a good bar.
Then I make my move. First I drop off my luggage. Then I make my way over to the bar for some free hard drinks. I settle into a comfortable chair. Charge up my blackberry, and start to catch up on emails.

If only work was this good.

  26. There is a sense of calm you get once you enter a lounge and you’re away from the mad rush of people trying to get somewhere.

  27. The bathrooms are much cleaner than the public ones typically found in many airports!

  28. I love the friendliness of the staff and their apparent ability to pull off tricks even the gate agent can’t.

  29. I really like an airline lounge because it is a peaceful, relaxing oasis in the midst of a crazy, hectic airport setting.

  30. I especially like the foreign lounges with free food — saves money and hassle.

  31. Unfortunately for me, I am a sucker for those yogurt covered pretzels that American has started carrying.

  32. However, fortunately for me, I do not have the Citi card so no longer can access the lounges unless I’m going international. This helps the waistline!

  33. Finally, they generally have the cleanest bathrooms you’ll find at an airport.

  34. Free Wi-Fi (when it’s working); had trouble last time at CLT’s C-concourse club and got very little help.

  35. When things go bad, it is much easier to change your ticket in the lounge than at the main customer service desk.

  36. Even if the quality of the free wine and spirits is not so great, there’s nothing like watching tarmac activity with a drink in one’s hand.

  37. In the US, that they have more comfortable chairs and are less noisy.
Internationally, the shower after a long flight.

  38. I wish I knew what the inside of the lounge looked like. I’ve never had the privilege of entering. Everyone that comes out looks so happy and relaxed.

  39. I like the quiet, the free drinks, the (sometimes) comfortable chairs, and the free wi-fi. When it’s an international flight, I like the showers.

  40. Lounges are a quiet, peaceful place to get work done and enjoy a cool glass of water.

  41. I like being able to relax away from the crowded gates, grab some free snacks, and check on emails!

  42. Being able to schedule meetings differently because I can take calls instead of being in a loud terminal

  43. Airlines lounges are great. The bathrooms are cleaner, they offer light refreshments, free wifi and place to recharge. I’d say my favorite part is free wifi!

  44. Visited the Turkish lounge in IST last month – where do I begin? The showers, the massages, the food, the slot-car racing, the billiards table, etc…

  45. I like having more space – usually – than the gate area to stretch out before a flight.

  46. I like feeling slightly secluded from the mass of travelers (even tho lounges can get busy also).

  47. Peace and quiet. Seeing I have one sided deafness no back ground noice so I can hear yay.

  48. It must be the free booze since there is no peace & quiet to be had in the MIA lounges I often frequent, tee hee. Oh, and free showers. I can’t hear the screaming children when I’m shampooing my hair so maybe that’s where everybody is getting the peace and quiet. Ha ha ha. Free booze, free showers, yeah that’s it. Sometimes there’s better access to power outlets too.

  49. I like the peace and quiet of the lounges. There are always a million announcements over the intercom at the gate normally.

  50. I like the having agents who can help you quickly, efficiently, and without waiting in the long gate/counter lines.

  51. It’s great to have the agents help in rebooking a missed flight. Great service provided by same agents. Thanks

  52. Playing spot the pin and ID the House of Representative Members in DCA’s Admirals Club lounge

  53. I’ve never actually seen the inside of a lounge. However, I would really appreciate a hot shower after a long-haul flight.

  54. The quiet atmosphere and plenty of room for my bags. A great place to read and catch up on email.

  55. Having comfortable seats is great for long layovers, gotta love the lounge for that.

  56. The first time I came it was for help in rebooking a delayed flight. I stayed for the –relative — peace and quiet.

  57. Being able to get a bite to eat, hop online and maybe take a shower. Its not about being exclusive, its just about being around less people!

  58. No (or at least few) noisy children, before being trapped on-board with too many.

  59. Being able to get a bite to eat, hop online and maybe take a shower. Its not about being exclusive, its just about being around less people!

    Oh, and power outlets!

  60. A “safer” area where you could maybe leave your stuff unwatched for a few minutes.

  61. A comfortable place to sit and recharge multiple devices without having to fight for an outlet.

  62. I love being able to unwind in a quiet atmosphere. This is what vacation should be about – relaxation.

  63. Living on the West Coast, many of our travels include long flights and long layovers. Having lounge access gives us some comfortable down time and breathing room to relax and unwind until our next flight. A lounge for us is a most welcome oasis amidst the chaos of an airport!

  64. Somewhere I can sit in a somewhat comfortable chair, have a small snack, in a hopefully more quiet spot.

  65. Never been in an airline lounge, so the best feature is to look forward being in one and see what the fuss is about!

  66. Restrooms that can usually be counted on to be in better shape than those in the terminal.

  67. Easy – PEACE AND QUIET. If the lounge in any way resembles the madness surrounding most gates, it’s a complete waste. Bonus if it has comfortable seats, a few complimentary beverages, and strong wifi.

  68. Favorite thing #2 about AA lounges: agents that can help you quickly when something goes wrong with your trip

  69. what i love most about an airline lounge is the peace and quiet, that zen feeling before you’re going up into the air. i live in a big city and there’s enough bustle around me all the time, so it’s also kind of like a mini vacation! the lounge is a big part of the trip for me, whether i’m traveling for business or pleasure. thanks!

  70. No1 – Showers… there is nothing that makes long trips better than being able to wash the TSA humiliation off.

  71. No2 – Being able to set your carry-ons down and walk around without worrying about theft, or triggering an evacuation.

  72. My Top 3:
    Clean Restrooms
Wi-fi [in airports that otherwise charge]
Knowledgeable Agents [when you need it]

  73. The best thing about lounges is the peace and quiet relative to the rest of the airport.

  74. A quiet place to work with good wifi, grab a free drink, or just relax away from anxious travelers.

  75. The way it is designed, a newly renovated or updated lounge with new furniture and amenities is a must. Shower stalls, Internet, food eating areas and computer workstations as well as conference rooms. The availability of free food and drinks as well as newspapers and magazines available for reading. A pleasant and helpful staff -a very big thing….

  76. They’re a place where I can be assured of sitting next to my adorable traveling companion/wife with a snack for her and a Coca-cola for me.

  77. mainly the peace it offers from the chaos of the airport [and sometime your own trip].

  78. Belonging is always a great feeling. Amid the chaos of an airport having a home base is such a relief.

  79. There’s no better place (provided the lounge has windows) to watch the planes go by.

  80. Showers for sure! #1 on my list. And lounges like The Wing that take it one step further are a dream come true!

  81. As a parent, I appreciate a lounge with a separate kids play room — great for the kids, and good for the other patrons.

  82. I love the peace and quiet combined with a comfortable place to sit. Also the lack of screaming children and lack of the general background “din”.

  83. My kids think it is a fun part of the travel adventure…the pass to get in, good views of the plane, etc

  84. Love that the airlines have agents to help you with your flights and anything else you need.

  85. Not having to listen to my kids ask, “Daddy, why can’t we get into the lounge?!?”

  86. I really enjoy free wi-fi and a chance to spread out a bit and get some work done in between flights. I also enjoy plane watching in some of the better located clubs.

  87. I like to have my flights fixed in the lounge when there is a cancellation instead of waiting in the terminal.

I also like the cleaner restrooms although this is lounge and airport dependent

  88. I like when there’s a decent Kosher selection of food. Delta’s JFK lounge has kosher bagels and muffins in the morning.

  89. I also appreciate a nice selection of complimentary alcohol. Finding Johnnie walker black is a nice bonus in domestic lounges.

  90. I like to stop into the JFK Skyclub and take a quick shower after arriving from LAX on a redeye (that’s about an hour too short for some decent sleep).

  91. sometimes you can see rats 🙂 (United at IAD .. was it “D”?)

j/k, I like space, power for my devices, ability to rebook with an agent, etc.

    -David

  92. free chocolate? sign me up!

exclusive space, power for devices, clean bathrooms, snacks, water, etc.

    -David

  93. It’s a quiet place to work with typically solid internet access while I’m waiting for my flight.

  94. I love to be able to step away from the madness of the terminals, set my bags down without worry, grab a free drink, put up my feet, and wait for the boarding time.

  95. A kids room so that my kids can play and not bother other travelers looking for peace and quiet.

  96. I love this! I tried to drop in on my last flight through LAX but I got there too early and they weren’t open.

Without a doubt, there is nothing better than getting off a long international flight and walking into a lounge to grab a nice hot shower before your connecting flight!

  97. The ORD club is my home club and love the comfy chairs, shower rooms, and great staff/servers that allow me to just sit & relax. Also nice to have ample plugs to recharge my always dying electronics.

  98. It may seem trivial, but I appreciate being able to access power outlets without having to worry about having my fingers chopped off in near-gate-outlet combat.

  99. I like: free drinks and snacks. No standing in lines to get ’em either. Keeps the kids happy too.

  100. A place to get away from it all and get ready for my exciting flight to a new destination.

  101. After the anxiety of getting to the airport, rushing through security, undressing and redressing it’s great to have that oasis of calm where I can just relax! It’s a little bit of heaven for me.

  102. Everything from bathrooms and showers, to food and drinks, to comfortable chairs, ability to charge my gadgets.

  103. Snickering at Delta’s ugly décor scheme — especially in USAirways’s much more tastefully decorated lounges.

  104. Like the calmer atmosphere, but LOVE a lounge that has separate areas such as no cell phones/quiet area, free computer workstation area (usually completely vacant), and something more than the usual cheese, crackers, and Chex mix.

  105. I like the grumpy bartenders at PHX who want a tip when I ask for a glass of orange juice.

  106. I like parents who don’t mind their children when they’re scurrying to grab cookies, making a mess in the process.

  107. I love that the lounges are a quiet place for my kids to run around in a make lots of noise….. (just kidding, but the lounges that do have a section for kids are really helpful!)

  108. I enjoy the tranquility that the lounge offers. A nice getaway from all the commotion in the terminals.

  109. Nice clean bathrooms with hand lotion. It’s the little things that make lounges a nice upgrade.

  110. Snacks (ideally some with protein, like cheese) for those travel days when you never get a chance to eat. Lounge food is sometimes a real life-saver.

  111. Access to power outlets is great when my electronics are running on fumes (not literally).

  112. I like staring deep into people’s eyes and trying to figure out how many miles they have.

  113. I would have to say the ability to relax in relative quiet – while the rest of the people are having to stress.

  114. I like being able to freshen up a little bit between flights and before leaving the airport.

  115. @ Nik, yes, the lounge agents seem to be more helpful and willing to give that extra effort.

  116. Going to the Admirals Club in Heathrow, having the same guy ask me the security questions and then point out all of the stickers on my passport that were from him.

  117. Eating salad in the Heathrow BA lounge knowing that my next flight is going to take me somewhere where it isn’t safe to eat anything that is not cooked.

  118. What I really like about an airline lounge is the ability to get away from the crowds for a moment or two before boarding the plane taking me on my next great adventure.

  119. Pretzels are great in the lounge, after attending a pretzel conference, and having pretzels on the plane.

  120. I like the lounges with windows that look out into the terminal so you can see all the people not in the lounges.

  121. I value the lounges as a quiet place to get away from the public hustle and bustle in the airport and they are cleaner then the public areas and offer complimentary food and drink options.

  122. In international lounges, I like picking up the free magazines to read on the flight home.

  123. I can sit and read the paper, charge my phone, while enjoying a light snack and a beverage (Diet Coke, preferably)

  124. International lounges–can be very relaxing, especially if they have lounge-type chairs and the complimentary min massages.

  125. I like being able to relax there away from the crowds and noise of the regular terminal.

  126. The snacks of course….Still debating on trying lounge sushi….Should be better than gas station sushi

  127. I favor airline lounges that offer ample power outlets for charging, a relatively quiet environment with different rooms for guests with different needs, good wifi.

  128. The shower after 13 hours in the air is so refreshing and I am always thankful when am to access one.

  129. They are the best place to relax just before your flight if you’re flying domestically, and when you land on a layover internationally you’re able to refresh yourself for the rest of your journey!
A total one stop shop for refueling (relaxing, grabbing a bite to eat and drink). Some also give you awesome views of the airports and operations!

  130. After a red-eye, best place to grab a few ZzZzZz if you have time before continuing onto your final destination.

  131. Favorite part is the lack of background noise. It is so much quieter inside a lounge that it makes traveling relaxing and refreshing.

  132. I enjoy the entirety of the lounge benefits, from food/drinks, increased privacy, ability to grab a shower, the wifi, and more. These perks are quite impressive to obtain as easily as signing up to a credit card and completing a spending requirement. Can’t beat that.

  133. They make delays SO much more palatable. (and this winter there were a LOT of delays—glad not to lose Amex platinum lounge access until march, since it got a lot of use this winter!).

  134. Free beer. Free wine. Free snacks. In that order. Oh yes, sometimes they help rebook during IRROPS.

  135. I find lounge agents more helpful than those in the terminal, if I need to make changes or ask something about my trip.

  136. The quiet atmosphere, the food and drinks, the nice décor– all is much appreciated after a long day of travel

  137. I had my first visit to a Airline Lounge last year when I went Anchorage to Nairobi (for a safari), in First Class using Alaska Air miles. OMG! Loved it. Want to do it again.

  138. A great place to sit and relax with some quiet around, food and drinks are a plus, but the space and being able to unwind is priceless!!!

  139. I like that the seats don’t have those obnoxious bars between them so you can actually get comfy on long layovers.

  140. And finally, a tasty beverage and a snack (though most of the time the food selection is pretty miserable).

  141. I like that lounges have free food, so I can have a snack before boarding my flight.

  142. I love the food you get at a lounge. It’s a great, relaxing place to grab a snack while waiting for your flight.

  143. I like that lounges have free drinks, so I can have a cocktail before my flight if I’m so inclined.

  144. I like that lounges tend to have more power outlets available that in the main terminal area, so I can use my laptop in the lounge and still have it fully charged for my flight.

  145. A good view of the tarmac to see the comings and goings of the airport in many locations.

  146. First, thanks for the contest.

I like going to lounges because they make my wife happy!

  147. Well would you l00kie here, The m00k reaches in his wallet and BLAM what do you see? All black staring at me.

The War is Coming. Choose your Gods Wisely Mortals. j/k but I do second the shower thing. American rocks, please don’t screw it up US… pub pretty pretty puhleeze

  148. also in a bit more interesting “techie” issue, did anyone else notice that VZ is all out warring internet wise on the Big G? Talk about non net neutral. You might as well say, well i ‘know’ you and your private air force think you’re pretty hot stuff, but if you want access passes to my peeps, you better have a seat in my office. Netflix, Netshmix, pimping the Googs, all the power to them.

  149. I like having a quiet place to relax before my flight, as well as having faster assistance if I have delays, cancellations, or other issues.

  150. What do I really like about an airline lounge? An on-site, made-to-order from- chef, a fabulous view with direct sunlight, and good food. When I say food, I don’t mean pretzel mix or paying for a personal pizza at the bar (AA), I mean hot, good, continuously made hot food. Not many airlines do airline lounges better than BA, particularly at LHR. If the food is good, not much else matters to me before the flight, except perhaps swanky restrooms in the club, where, again, BA does it best, especially with their Quiet Calm products. –NJR

  151. Lounges are quiet compared to the hustle and bustle of the rest of the airport. Gives you a chance to relax before your flight

  152. I like how you can get a couple drinks in before your flight so you’re in a cheerful mood when you board the plan

  153. What do I really like about an airline lounge? I like the free snacks for short layovers.

  154. What do I really like about an airline lounge? I like the showers for early morning arrivals.

  155. What do I really like about an airline lounge? I like the good wifi for mid-duration layovers.

  156. What do I really like about an airline lounge? I like the comfortable chairs all the time.

  157. What do I really like about an airline lounge? I like the free drinks (all varieties) before long flights.

  158. SELF SERVE drinks (I HATE having to wait in line and ask a bartender for regular old club soda!)

  159. Land side lounges are a great place to stow your stuff now that there is no such thing as a locker or bag check any more.

  160. I like being able to sit away from the hustle and bustle of the rest of the terminal.

  161. A clean bathroom. Love the new Centurion lounge at DFW for this very reason! Hate the Admirals Club in Chicago for this reason, too. 🙂

  162. Besides all the mentioned amenities, I like to see my hubby’s eyes light up when we escape the crowds.

  163. I really like that they’re a peaceful place to make sure you have your act together before going on a plane.

  164. If it’s a decent lounge, it can add an element of class and service to modern air travel.

  165. The food, wifi and a peaceful place to relax removed from the craziness that is the boarding area.

  166. Etro toiletries and the rubber duckies in the washrooms
of the LH first terminal in FRA.

  167. A good lounge should provide an ambiance to relax from security lines and crowded airport gates.

  168. You never know who you will be sitting next to. I’ve met some pretty cool people with interesting lives.

  169. I like the peace and quite of not being surrounded by screaming kids and not having to slum it at the gate with the great unwashed masses. 😉

  170. @32 Hugo. The offer for access to the club with an Amex is being offered by Citi, not AA and you have to be lucky enough to find a Citi representative at the club when you visit (M-F 9a to 5p). That Citi rep is the one who gives you a pass, not AA.

    See details here:
    http://viewfromthewing.com/2014/04/10/american-express-platinum-cards-will-still-get-american-airlines-lounges-april/

With the Amex Platinum card, you did not get access to Wifi at Admirals Clubs, which I thought was a pretty cheap move on the part of AA.

I liked using the shower at the SJC AA club when it was still around, even though it hadn’t been descaled of SJC’s extremely hard water in forever and a day.

  171. Having to walk around with my bags in one hand
and a cocktail in another looking for a place to sit.

  172. People in airports seem to lose their manners. Airline lounges offer a nice break from the craziness.

  173. Very nice of you, Gary — thanks.
Having access inside most lounges to restroom facilities is my favorite lounge attribute. You can use them without having to drag all of your carry-on luggage, coats, etc. into the stall with you (or take a chance something will be missing when you emerge from the stall), and most lounges maintain the order and cleanliness of their restrooms at a higher level than the restrooms on the concourses.

  174. When flights are cancelled or delayed, it’s usually far easier and more successful to work on a remedy with the airline agents in the lounge — and as a rule they are more knowledgeable, more motivated to help, and friendlier than those at the concourse service counters.

  175. It’s hard to beat free food and beverages — especially in those lounges that still offer free alcohol.

  176. When it’s been a long day (or week), and especially when the day’s route is trying, the relative calm, quiet, and comfort (upholstered chairs) of a lounge is greatly appreciated.

  177. If there’s a long layover, I sleep better in a lounge where there is at least some discretion exercised regarding who has access to me and my belongings and the chairs are usually more comfortable and it’s quieter than at the gate.

  178. I like that agents in the lounge are much more helpful than agents “for the general public.” This has saved my day several times.

  179. I like to get into vacation mode with a pre-departure beverage and lounges are a good place for that.

  180. I like being able to have a quiet space to take work phone calls while also enjoying a beer (or two)

  181. I also appreciate the snacks, but man are the picking’s slim these days at AA lounges…especially in O’Hare.

  182. Finally, I appreciate the re-booking help from lounge staff if I’m in a pickle. Thanks for the giveaway, Gary!

  183. I just love kicking back in those comfy chairs and relaxing while watching CNN without sound. Now that’s the life!

  184. Being able to take a shower after work before getting on an overnight flight to Europe.

  185. The look on my dad’s face the first time I took him in a lounge (in Heathrow) and the volume at which he exclaimed “this is all free?!?!”

  186. Didn’t get a chance to take a shower on my last trip, but can imagine how wonderful that must feel when flying around the world.

  187. I love the complimentary drinks & snacks in the quieter and less crowded lounge setting!

  188. When traveling for pleasure, I like that getting into a lounge takes much of the hassle and discomfort out of the airport stay, so the vacation feels as if it’s begun sooner.

  189. When traveling for pleasure or business, I like the access to snacks and drinks that take some of the sting off airport prices.

  190. I probably should also admit that when I was traveling in my college days, before I entered the points and miles world, I always watched enviously from my bench as other travelers relaxed in lounges. I like having graduated from that bench.

  191. My absolute favorite part of the lounge, is to get a refreshing shower in. Nothing beats that shower after a long flight.

  192. I like just the fact that even busy loungers are quieter and more calming than the general terminal.

  193. “What do I really like about an airline lounge?” Most of all, a quiet place to sit, collect my thoughts and decompress, especially during a lay-over after a long trip.

  194. I like having a (free) glass of wine and sitting down at a good work position and getting something accomplished.

  195. Snacks are nice, especially the breakfasts if I had to get up at a disgusting hour to catch my very early morning flight (and didn’t want to be wakened for the cheerios they serve the first class passengers).

  196. I remember a great lounge with relaxation chairs with headphones, I remember blankets (sort of like a MUCH MORE PLEASANT dentist chair) and nice classical music and a waterfall…

  197. I have appreciated friendly, sympathetic help when stranded or looking for a better solution than my next flight.

  198. I also have to admit that I’ve had some great several-hour naps in lounges, particularly those which have areas most people don’t seem to be aware of (or else I’m there at really odd times).

  199. I appreciate being able to leave my belongings in one spot and not worry about something getting stolen, or security being summoned for a suspicion!

  200. What I really like is a chance to charge my phone and tablet while having a glass or two before boarding a (usually) international flight.

  201. Free wifi is a major benefit even now in 2014 where you would imagine most airports would have this by now.

  202. Having a nice breakfast when flying early in the morning and having to leave home or the hotel at the middle of the night.

  203. I don’t know… I’ve never been to one. But I would like to.. and I have a fair amount of AA travel coming up!

  204. But although I’ve never had the pleasure, I would certainly appreciating getting away from the crowds.

  205. Agents are usually much more helpful in rebooking you if there’s a delay or cancellation.

  206. A quick snack or drink before a flight, but not super healthy unless you pick the United Club elementary school baby carrot package.

  207. Although in theory you should never leave luggage unattended, a relatively safer place to leave belongings at your seat while you visit restroom.

  208. I like the added option of getting airline customer service help by the lounge staff.

  209. I love the more relaxed feel in airline lounges! It’s so much more relaxing than the regular waiting areas…

  210. Easy – I love that I don’t have to search 14 different waiting areas for a power outlet. They’re all over the place in lounges!

  211. A quiet, generally (though not always) more relaxed place to sit than the terminal waiting area

  212. The showers, while I don’t use them every time, are a really nice bonus when flying long distances! Sometimes you just don’t have enough time to get back to the hotel, check in, shower, etc., and you have to go to your meeting straight from the airport!

  213. Free Snacks/Food & Drinks might be one of my favorite things about airline lounges! They cost so much once you step outside to the regular terminal!

  214. still love paying premium prices for middle shelf drinks all while having no place to sit!

  215. free aloohol that can double as a paint thinner, and stale pretzels that every child has put his hands in

  216. With kids and hours waiting time, the lounge is a great place for family travel.

  217. Depends on whether it’s a US carrier or international.
    US- free wifi
International- free food (in US lounges you’d be lucky to get a cracker or an apple)

  218. The free wifi. Very helpful when checking last minute seat availability or for rebooking missed flights.

  219. The Ethiad lounges where you can order off a menu and have made to order food. Best lounge I’ve ever been in! Beats Lufthansa.

  220. The perfect place for my older children and I to get my husband in the right frame of mind for traveling for hours n hours we can get him fed get him all drunk up and get him relaxed we can get him on the plane

  221. Honestly, I’ve never been in an airline lounge… I always imagined them to be exclusively for the swanky business travelers. But I’d be more than happy to report back if I win passes 🙂

  222. I love seeing famous people. I saw the gray haired guy from Dateline in the Terminal B Admirals Club at DFW last month.

  223. A bit of peace and quiet, some personal space, newspapers, and a convenient place to recharge my electronics.

  224. Lounge seating is much more comfortable and better-maintained than gateside seating.

  225. Airline lounges provide a way to experience travel without the chaos of the terminal. An oasis in a sea of madness.

  226. For international travel, with a stopover in Europe, lounges can be a great place to go when you don’t want to change money and still get a snack!

  227. Five reasons I love a good airport lounge!

    5. The peace, quiet and comfort. Being stuck near the gate means uncomfortable chairs, a grubby environment, and a lot of noise. A good lounge offers a wonderful alternative.

  228. Being in an airline lounge helps make the travel experience calmer and less hectic for me.

  229. 4. Having access to airline employees if I need help. It’s much better than having to wait in a long line at the gate to try to get some help.

  230. 2. A good lounge has a kid’s area where my daughter can hang out and have fun while I relax. Great for the whole family!

  231. The airline lounges have cleaner bathrooms than the ones on the concourses and I like that.

  232. Lounges can offer an opportunity to get to your plane more quickly and without having to reenter the terminal in some airports. Its a really cool feature!

  233. A few minutes of quiet sitting in a comfortable chair having a cool drink helps prepare me for the crowded boarding area and plane.

  234. I’ve never been in a lounge but think there are many things to enjoy. The food, the bar and just the peace and quiet. Would love to try it!!

  235. For me a lounge is about getting out of the chaos in the terminal. I’m not big into drinking at the club b/c I’m usually on my way to work or on my way home…both involve driving. It is a nice seat and less noise.

  236. Three things I like about an airline lounge

    1) Helpful, (mostly) friendly agents
    2) A retreat from the concourse
    3) Free beer…

  237. If the lounge has a shower, it’s a favorite! Love freshening up after a loooong flight

  238. I like the free alochol of course. But also enjoy the quiet atmosphere from the sea of people in the terminal.

  239. Up until the President’s Lounge became overwhelmed with people ( last 5 times I stopped in EWR and IAH there was literally no place to sit) it was nice to catch a quick nap on the comfy chairs.

  240. I really like the free alcohol / food and being able to speak with an agent who is much friendlier than the ticketing counter or 800 number if I have to make changes

  241. I’m thinking of you, Newark…… just being able to get out of the masses and into a relatively quiet area…. it’s the only way to begin a trip with a tranquil mind…

  242. Peace and quiet. It’s so much more civilized than the hustle and bustle of the airport.

  243. Power outlets to charge devices without having to sit on the floor at a remote power outlet or leave your device at a charging station. You can work and charge at the same time.

  244. Oh, and EVERYTHING about the Virgin Upper Class lounge at LON. What a phenominal oasis. Free massages!

  245. When I fly internationally on long-haul flights, the showers are a great benefit! If I have a late flight and an early check-out, I can still get a day of sightseeing in and then freshen up in the lounge rather than boarding the flight feeling tired and smelling stinky. 🙂

  246. My favorite thing about an airline lounge is to escape the madness of the airport!

  247. An un-hurried, quiet corner…… Lots of power outlets……..
direct reservation/schedule access to helpful staff. Very cool.

  248. When I’m in an airport lounge, I use the time to check flyer talk and Gary’s blog!

  249. I like the beer (except the charge for premiums, when Blue Moon is definitely not a premium)

  250. The entitled feeling you get that you’re more important than everyone else. *sarcasm*

  251. Angels smooth my way, the Travelocity Gnome is bartender, snacks are unboxed, then Unicorns gallop me to the gate.

  252. I like the quiet and the more comfortable seating. Free wifi is great, so long as it works!

  253. The best part about lounge access is being able to impress my wife and friends when we travel. Makes me look a like boss (even though it totally doesn’t)

  254. Wonderful to have calm and peace to get body and soul, and my plans together. Free wifi. Sometimes following a sporting event that is happening on our day to travel. Feeling special

  255. I like a lounge with helpful attendants, so that I can get assistance rebooking if my flight was cancelled or delayed.

  256. I also like lounges that have free drinks. If I’m stuck in an airport for a while, I could probably use a drink!

  257. Good wi-fi is also important in a lounge… lets me get some work done, or at the very least, it gives me something to do…

  258. Free food is nice but not the most important thing to me. Usually there’s not much of it, or it’s not all that great.

  259. I like other people picking up my garbage. I’m usually too embarrassed to leave it lying around at the gate but am happy to walk away from it when I know lounge butlers will bus it for me just like at home.

  260. I think I live everything about airline lounges since I’ve never been to one! Has to suffer through few long layovers myself but never did go to one of those swanky lounges to sleep over. Hope your offer will be my first! Thanks!

  261. I love how I can escape the crowd, get some snacks and drinks, and connect to wifi in more comfy chairs and just a more relaxing atmosphere.

  262. I’ve never used the showers… but I can see how that can really come in handy at times.

  263. Power Outlets! Although most US airports are refreshing their waiting areas and adding power outlets, I like know that I can always find an outlet to charge my phone/ipad/computer before a long flight.

  264. Airport lounges allow me the smug satisfaction of knowing that I’m not toughing it out with the cattle call of passengers out in the public waiting areas of the terminal.

  265. Free bottle of water, thanks to our friends at the TSA the only options is usually ridiculously priced so it is nice have a free alternative.

  266. I like that the wifi is generally faster than inside the terminals and I don’t have to watch an ad to log on.

  267. As a parent, I appreciate a lounge with a separate kids play room — great for the kids, and good for the other patrons.

  268. the thing i like most of all is being able to sit in a comfortable chair while i’m waiting for my flight. a newspaper and a glass of wine are the icing on the cake.

  269. I’ve never been in a lounge and would love to get access! I think the snacks and drinks would be nice though.

  270. Favorite thing about lounges – being able to leave my carry-on at a seat and wander the lounge without worrying that my stuff will be missing when I return from a lap around the lounge. And free snacks!

  271. Well as a low-tier flyer I haven’t been in one for many years so I can’t really say what I like. The passes would sure help me figure it out though.

  272. Shower after a long flight and before boarding the next one, to see my loved ones feeling fresh

  273. i like wifi, showers after a long flight, free food, better view of the tarmac, and massages (depends on lounge).

  274. Airport lounges are particularly wonderful for transfers. Your little heaven on earth 🙂

  275. I particularly enjoy them when travelling with my older parents. It’s the ability to provide them with some tranquility before a flight.

  276. Let’s all be honest here, we all love feeling fancy and have free stuff being given to us. Greetings 🙂

  277. Free wifi, drinks/snacks and the ability to shower after long flights (obviously only certain lounges)

  278. whats the point of a contest if a random dot is picking winners?

does that mean no one is reading the posts?

someone will/can win with 2 word or fewer?

    no creativity here.

i was going to write a poem– not sure it is worth my time and creativity.

    i’m not getting this!

  279. It feels like you aren’t in an airport anymore. I never knew how much noise there was in an airport until I went in and out of an airport lounge.

  280. What I like most is the peace and quite with out hearing an announcement ever 60 seconds that you do not understand.

  281. Admiral lounges are an oasis in chaos. Showers and a quick bite after a long overnight flight restores humanity to most.

  282. We lost our lounge access with AMEX platinum but I love the AA lounge at LHR–self serve wine!

  283. AA lounge at JFK has a great view–I like watching the sun go down while awaiting a flight to Europe.

  284. The AA lounge at LGA actually has pretty decent food and large screen macs which always seem available.

  285. I like the tranquility of being in the lounge… ohh, and the free drinks are nice too!

  286. The lounge at CLT — chocolate chip cookies, chex mix, and red wine — my favorite meal!

  287. Assuming it’s not too crowded, we love the tranquility (unlike the gate areas!) and the internet.

  288. Experienced staff who know that they are speaking to the most loyal customers of their airline and do whatever they can to take good care of us.

  289. That they apparently don’t let people like me in… And the great view of the planes…and the free stuff.

  290. If it’s a slow day, agents who will come find me personally and tell me there’s been a delay and work with me to find alternatives

  291. Having a desk to plug in my laptop and get a few minutes of work in makes all the difference in a rushed travel day

  292. I’ve never been to a club lounge, nor do I have elite status. But in reading lots of travel bloggers, I’ve learned (with great envy) that some lounges have specially designated areas for children. That sounds AMAZING! Would love to experience that.

  293. To clarify my comment: I have a 19-month old toddler, so hanging out in a lounge that has an area designated for children, would make for calmer travel, and for the rest of the passengers too, since she’d be able to get her energy out in the lounge, play with toys, etc. I’m not sure Admirals Club offers these children’s play areas, but if they do, I HAVE to win one of these passes so that next time I travel with my toddler it’ll be a fun experience! 🙂

  294. I’d also like to experience an airline lounge to try out the free food. I travel economy all the time, so getting some free food and beverages before taking a domestic flight would be wonderful. Naturally, I have no idea if the food in the lounges is even decent, but since it’s free I wouldn’t complain.

  295. Power outlets that don’t require sitting on the floor against a wall/using a crowded charging station.

  296. also getting to leave your bag for a minute and not worry that someone is going to call security

  297. I like the tranquility of being in the lounge… ohh, and the free drinks are nice too!

  298. Wi-fi is great to pass the time – either to work or download articles for the flight

  299. Knowing that I don’t have to hunt for snacks, seating, wifi and outlets.

Of course, this only holds true about 80% of the time 🙂

  300. One thing stands out, a gym/exercise room. I’ve intentionally booked longer than necessary connections so that I’d have time to get in a quick workout in between flights. Unfortunately, I can think of one lounge in the world that has a gym, though perhaps there are others.

  301. It has got to be the showers after a long flight overseas. The espresso machine is great also

  302. I like that it is a nice quiet and relaxing place. After all the rush and frenetic energy of going through security, lounges offer a place to decompress.

  303. Using the airline lounges is part of why we care about earning points/miles. It’s the perk that stood out than most general area. But that aside, it’s like a sanctuary in the midst of chaos. 🙂

  304. act like you’re a baller when you’re really not because you earned it using a credit card.

  305. I most like, as in the BA and VS business class lounges, the opportunity to have a good meal before boarding an overnight flight, so I can spend the whole flight sleeping.

  306. being able to get away from the craziness of the airport to a (usually) quieter environment

  307. when you have a delay or issue, the lounge staff are always very helpful and typically the lines are shorter!

  308. It can feel like an oasis. Clean, orderly and relaxing in the midst of…well, the opposite.

  309. I like the feeling of being special and being able to get into the lounge where there are snacks, quiet, and free internet!

  310. I love the view to the runway. Love airplanes and travel and looking at planes take off and land doesn’t get old. It’s hundreds of stories intertwined in one single event. Every time

  311. The food in Admirals Club lounges is generally better than in regular terminal restaurants.

  312. The airline lounges are truly an oasis in the chaos of the airports. Having a longish wait after or before a transatlantic flight is truly a life saver.

  313. The free WIFI, the ability to rest between long connections, the food and drink – these are all reason for savouring an airline lounge pass.

  314. More comfortable seating and free drinks, two things you can never get in the regular terminal.

  315. I don’t have access to the lounge, but if I were to purchase one, it would be to feel a little special.

  316. I don’t have access to the lounge, but if I were to purchase one, it would be to get away from the airport madness.

  317. I don’t have access to the lounge, but if I had a chance to visit, it would be to see whats inside and compare each location.

  318. I don’t have access to the lounge, but if I were to visit, it would be for the complimentary items.

  319. I don’t have access to the lounge, but iI here that the customer service maybe be more accommodating then regular agents.

  320. The courteous service and welcoming smiles of airline lounge staff take a little bit of the stress out of traveling.

  321. Wow, is this the longest comment thread ever?

I’m always looking for a nice glass of JWB(Blue)

  322. A good shower after 12 hours onboard always works wonders for the spirit (accompanied by a rubber ducky!)

  323. I like the free food and comfortable couches, especially in the ba lhr lounge. Was able to watch the British open golf last year during a layover there and it was great!

  324. What do I really like about an airline lounge? Food. Hot food. Continuous food being prepared, and, where applicable, an on-site chef that prepares upon request. BA, hands down, does first class airline lounges better than most. Having a full stomach before an international flight is the key to my pre-flight (and, in some cases, post-flight), happiness! All the rest, to me, is secondary. –NJR

  325. My favourite thing is to be able to take a shower, have a nap, wake up and feed my stomach!

  326. Taking friends or family. I still remember the first time someone gifted me a visit. Felt untrasophisticated.

  327. The more relaxed atmosphere of being surrounded by habitual travellers, and thanks, by the way, for your kind give-away win chance.

  328. AA lounge is now difficult to get in to, even if you have a first class ticket you aren’t allowed in to the AAdmirals club. I thought that was surprising.

  329. Totally unrelated to AA lounges, but we are both addicted to Biscoff cookies topped with Nutella.

  330. Luckily though, because I had come across on a international business class flight, I could use the lounge.

  331. I have never been in a lounge! I would imagine that I would like the free food in some.

  332. My family enjoy the lounge because you can feel separated from the hustle and bustle and frustration of the average traveler.

  333. I like to watch pompous businessman in the lounge have loud conversations on their bluetooth headsets on important topics at the top of their lungs. I’d really like to video some of them and post on youtube but out of respect for everyone else’s privacy have not done so.

  334. Saw you outside the Snoqualmie room before Lucky’s session. Can I have the miles? 🙂

  335. A nice glass and the people watching. My imagination flies more in a lounge about where people are from and what they do.

  336. Being away from the chaos of the terminal, especially during IRROPs events (and the AAngels who are awesome during those events)

  337. I rather want to stay in calm place prior to my flight, so I like spending time at airport lounge (and sometimes good food is there as well!!)

  338. They remind me of the days when flying was a good thing. They are one of the only havens left. You can actually use the restroom w/o dragging your luggage along. You get help from agents who are not in the ‘hate mode’ (well deserved so often, sadly)
and the number 1 reason I love the airline club lounge:
I can relax during my travel. a rare thing these days.

  339. I like the no hassle internet and just relaxing away from everyone! Snacks & drinks are usually great too!

  340. I love taking a shower in miami in the morning coming from lima and going to work hours later at the office in chicago.

  341. Food and drinks are a nice perk while you wait for your flight that is almost certain to be delayed.

  342. I love the showers while enjoying a free drink and the company of a few flight attendants

  343. The staff is also another really nice benefit of the lounges. Most go out of their way for you

  344. I never win these things, but any of these prizes would be a nice early wedding gift. My future wife would appreciate kicking back in the lounge on our honeymoon…

  345. The provision of at least some food domestically, and even better food outside the US.

  346. Power plugs, power plugs everywhere. Preferably the multi-plugs that take international outlets of many kinds.

  347. A clean restroom. I just about cried when I got to the Air China lounge in Beijing after some of the outlying places I had been.

Showers are a plus for international lounges. Not required for domestic, but also a nice plus.

  348. A view of operations or the terminal. I know. I want quiet and a view! So picky. But it’s great to be set apart and yet still get a feel for being in such a vast space full of millions of dollars of machinery.

  349. I need those warm showers at MIA and SCL before those long haul overnight flights…..otherwise they become long restless ordeals.

  350. Relaxation away from the noise of the terminal. And SOME lounges have smoking areas — yes, I’m one of THOSE people!!!

  351. Forget the Wifi and alcohol. What I really want is fresh fruit, yogurt, and some breads. Travel is terrible for my health, so having access to healthful products (I’m glaring at you, cheeses) is a great benefit. I’ve left lounges to go to the terminal to pick up some fruit before when all that was available was old/slimy or when there wasn’t any.

  352. Shower before and after flight, snacks and drinks, wifi, great and quiet place to work, magazines to read, tv to watch, basically a great place to kill time before or in between flights.

  353. Amazingly enough, I’ve never flown on American. This would be one great way to start!

  354. Plug for electronics, food that is more than snacks and a shower after a long flight.

  355. If its an international club, then a drink and some nice finger food before a long-haul flight

  356. A quiet place to work and relax during layovers, away from the hustle and bustle of the terminals.

  357. A place to relax and power up all my electronic devices. A view of the tarmac is a plus.

  358. What I most value is the silence compared to the outside and the confort of the chairs. After that it would be the service and food and power outlets :)!

  359. the best lounge experience i’ve had was a LH business lounge in FRA. they had beer on tap, a smoking area and internet. that was better to me than the concord lounge in LHR a few days later.

  360. Unlimited cup o’ noodles in the lounge at Papeete airport in Tahiti. No question.

  361. AAngels that can sometimes help you out when gate agents tell you there is nothing that can be done.

  362. I appreciate having better chairs in a lounge. Regular chairs in the terminal are like concrete.

  363. Damn. If just 1% click your link, this has to be one hellava lucrative payday. With so many beggars, you should give away a paltry 25K miles everyday.

  364. People-watching. We’re all part of a secret club, where the rules of the club are, nobody talks to each other!

  365. Also, watching the planes through polarized windows that color everything with a yearning, aching feeling!

  366. The food, service, and decor at awesome foreign lounges like the Wing in HK, or Turkish Airline’s lounge in IST.

  367. I like that the lounge is a quiet place where you can stay and unwind between flights on a long connection! At least I think I can….

  368. I frequently fly to Philadelphia for lunch on mileage runs. The lounge provides a shower for what would otherwise be a very disgusting Ben.

  369. the ability to shower at the airport has made a huge difference in my comfort level many times. especially connecting on after a red eye.

  370. Internet that usually works, without having to find where in the airport reception actually works!

  371. Luggage storage – it’s a great feeling to be able to ‘abandon’ your bags for a while!

  372. Lounge is great for meeting people. Haha, I met my ex-GF in a Business Lounge while travelling.

  373. Please enter me in your drawing. I have never used a airport lounge, but would love to try it.

  374. When flying internationally in business or first, it’s definitely the food and drinks

  375. A hot shower and a massage if there is one, especially when you have status that let’s you get into a lounge but you’re still flying internationally in coach.

  376. Free drinks, snacks and sports on the big screen instead of the crowded boredom sitting by the gate.

  377. I can get a free breakfast before an early morning work trip, saving me time and hassle.

  378. You can shower (and change into more presentable clothes) after a long trip or for an event that you’re arriving just in time for.

  379. Definitely beats sitting in the boarding area and listening to announcement after announcement!

  380. Reliable wi-fi, even in airports that have free wi-fi for all, as wi-fi in the lounge may be faster.

  381. I like that I can grab my own copy of a newspaper instead of hunting down a discarded copy on a random seat.

  382. being able to get a drink and some snacks without having to succumb to airport prices!

  383. I appreciate airline lounges as a refuge, a comfortable spot to relax, and a place for a quick snack and drink between flights.

  384. I LOVE when lounges have a kid’s play area when traveling with my kiddos. It is a sanity saver during long layovers and helps get the wiggles out even during shorter layovers.

  385. Lounges can be a safe haven when flights get delayed and things start to get crazy an the departure gates.

  386. Showers when we are on long trips. They saved me in Tokyo when we flew from Bangkok to Tokyo to Dallas/Ft. Worth on to our home airport.

  387. Generally there is easy access to plugs for electronics (which there are never enough of at the gate)

  388. Food. Even if it is just snacks, at least they are free snacks rather than the expensive stuff you can buy in the airport.

  389. The kids enjoy trying to guess where the planes are going to and where they are going.

  390. GOOD coffee. Espresso machine even better. But there is nothing WORSE than bad coffee offerings.

  391. Actually, need to check out an AA lounge to see how their drink options stack up. Still pretty new to the lounge thing.

  392. I love the comfortable seats to lounge in and free drinks when there is a long layover.

  393. having access to children’s play area is very nice when traveling with my 3 year old

  394. Free drinks and wifi! Also, it just makes me feel a bit special getting into a lounge while most travelers have no access

  395. I don’t know, as I have never been in a lounge- but I sure would love to find out!

  396. It gives me a chance to mellow out and get away from the hustle and bustle in the airport in between flights

  397. I enjoy the quiet – away from the incessant announcements that only people with the magic code can decipher.

  398. The spaciousness, the quiet, the comfortable chairs, the chance to unwind with free drinks and snacks!

  399. Appreciate the opportunity to share comments. I enjoy the airline lounges for a small step away from the maddening crowds in the terminal.

  400. free wifi, free recharge my phone, and complimentary drinks make the trip a lot more enjoyable.

  401. I like the fact that My parents and/or wife can be comfortable and relax when I take them places and we have a long layover… its the least I can do for the 3 fav people in my life.

  402. Wow! Dark chocolate, my favorite. I’d eat it if even was wrapped as a Delta Gold card, but American is better.

  403. Having a beverage without getting your knees damaged by that d&$#@ reclining seat in row 26.

  404. It’s like being sent to your room for a timeout after a rough time with the boss of the house.

  405. Many outlets to juice up your phone or iPad between flights, so no fighting for the last outlet and sitting on the floor at the gate to use it.

  406. My favorite lounge feature is a device that can ensure Random.org always brings up the number you want….unfortunately no lounge offers this feature at present time.

  407. After spending time in Alaska Board Rooms I also have found that it really does matter to have people to help with rebooking in the lounge, it’s amazing Alaska still doesn’t have this in their clubs.

  408. I really love napping rooms, LH FCT has them as do a few others like the CZ CAN lounge…so great to catch a quick bit of shuteye. I just wish more places had sleeping rooms, it’s amazing that with all that space they didn’t put them in at EK’s DXB F lounge.

  409. free food and drinks ..although the free food holds true in just flagship lounges now..for BA lounges in Europe outside UK dont have much to fill up your appetite

  410. The most important things in a lounge though are clean bathrooms. When the public toilets are dirty a clean bathroom is just unbeatable. Throw in a reasonable sized shower rooms (DL ATL F Concourse Skyclub size…not the tiny ones at AR Condor EZE lounge) and I’m all set.

  411. what i dont like is they dont have enough power sockets thought almost every other person needs one !!

  412. They have carpet so they are quieter than the terminal. They have comfortable eating and refreshments.

  413. I used the lounge at LAX for the first time last December before flying out to Paris on AF. The food selection was pretty decent but wasn’t so relaxing as it was the shared lounge (DL, AF, KE, ect). I would like to experience more updated lounge.

  414. I see lounge most valuable when it meets necessity needs. I don’t usually see it as “luxury” expense/activity in most cases.

  415. I love getting away from the stress of the airport. I love the free wifi, snacks, charging stations and clean bathrooms.

  416. Just got my AA 100k from Citi and looking forward to using their lounge.

Generally, I try not to arrive too early or have long lay overs, so I don’t use the pass as much as I should.

  417. Free food and beverage that keep me from starving while stranded in the airport that is universally overpriced

  418. A place where you can easily find a seat and electrical outlets while waiting for your flight

  419. Kick back on a comfortable chair without worrying about your legs getting run over by yet another over-weight carry-on luggage

  420. A safer environment to leave your baggage unattended while taking your time relaxing in the restroom.

  421. Enjoy a nice drink in a foreign airport without worrying about which credit card does not charge foreign transaction fees

  422. Separation from the norm… especially when flying first class, a separate lounge from the rest. 😀

  423. I especially like using the lounges in NYC area airports and ATL since the gate areas are generally very crowded…and hopefully it’s a bit less so in the lounge! Good place to get a bit of work done before a flight 🙂

  424. Bathrooms are usually cleaner, which is especially important when travelling with a child!

  425. I always find (especially at the DL lounge at LGA) that people like to strike up conversations. Not sure why, but perhaps the bar has something to do with it :/

  426. love the view of the runway from the lounge…snacks, showers and like using new computers too!

  427. I love the lounges as a place to unwind from the hustle and bustle of the busy airport, and if im lucky I can sneak in a free massage before my flight!

  428. The Staff at all of the AA lounges I have been to has been especially good. They are very focused on customer service.

  429. My favorite part about lounges is access to clean er restrooms than in the terminal and comfortable seating

  430. By far the best reason is the help with changing a reservation. Face to face interaction can’t be beat!! And then the free drink I need in case they were not able to help.

  431. Obviously the advantages are only fully realized if due to either a lay over, delay, etc. you have the time to use the lounge. But during those times it is the quiet and comfort for either relaxing or doing work. Additionally the lounge staff can be very helpful with any scheduling problems you might be experiencing.

  432. A lounge offers the chance to restore a modicum of dignity to the increasingly tedious business of travel.

  433. The lounge allows me to feel just a little special (but it depends on the lounge!).

  434. The lounge is to scrounge. Shortbread in United, Biscoff cookies in Delta, and all sorts of wonderful things in Virgin.

  435. Here’s to the merger of US and AA. Hope our hub here in Philadelphia actually benefits.

  436. No kids running around (who can blame them? they have energy to burn in between long flights, but still).

  437. Having a snack of some sort at least, and sometimes having a pretty decent meal at the nicer lounges.

  438. Winding down with a cheap beer in peace and quiet after a usually hectic day to get to the airport.

  439. I love the peace and quiet in the lounge. The free drinks and snacks are also a great perk!

  440. I love the quiet and calm feeling in lounges as opposed to the often rushed and loud feeling you get outside. Nicer bathrooms are a plus too! 🙂

  441. Clean and easy place to change diapers and let my kids grab an apple or snack before the flight. Little things like that make all the difference when flying with small children.

  442. The lounge gives me direct access to airline customer service agents! I know I can call, but sometimes face to face makes a better impression.

  443. I love international lounges since they offer super nice meals and home alike services

  444. I like the fact that I can take my family in there and we can an enjoy a nice time while we wait for our airplane.

  445. A place my son can recover from the overstimulation of the airports and the flights

  446. You can use the internet, charge your phone, etc.. in a different country at no cost.

  447. I’m looking forward to a DFW layover I have in a few days so I can try the Centurian Lounge.

  448. It is truly a relief to be able to relax at a lounge before or after a loong flight, e.h. transatlantic or transpacific. To use it if a flight is delayed. This is to me the primary reason, however, it is equally rewarding just to relax there.

  449. Always more helpful with rebookings and you can count on getting apples before boarding.

  450. Last one: comfy seating, view of the tarmac! free snacks, wifi, and tranquility (sometimes)!

  451. I like sitting in the lounge and playing the guess-that-language-being-spoken game. Almost as good as people-watching in the terminal.

  452. Love airport lounges when flights get super delayed. It takes you away from all the chaos in the terminal.

  453. My husband likes the shower. I like the free wifi and comfortable seats to relax. It makes lot different if you travel overseas.

  454. Hi, I like the feeling to have space and depending of how long is the trip, the showers….

  455. I have found lounges to be most valuable when traveling internationally, when connection times between flights may be several hours. Many overseas lounges are equipped with showers and private resting areas; great amenities after a long flight. Domestically, lounges are not as important, as we try to minimize the amount of time between connecting flights.

  456. Easier rebooking through club agents with travel disruptions and oasis of quiet in the airport hustle. Easy to get work done in relaxed atmosphere.

  457. It gets me away from the huge airport crowds. Seriously – that’s the worst part of traveling for me!

  458. Lounges just make the trip way more pleasing, they are moodlifting, free wifi is awesome when you’ve got to reply emails and keep your business running and food allows you to keep going!

  459. Favorite thing about an airport lounge is seating is [usually] more comfortable than the terminal.

  460. A luxury to enjoy with airport as it is these days. Every airline stripping everything off (including you) day after day, merger after merger, there are few and far perks if any left; any more. With the trend by airlines to cut all corners and including the center.

Travel business class most often on business trips and enjoy the lounges – once in a while. Not all airports have lounge facility for all airlines.

Great website and blog site – View from the wings. Enjoy reading and all the info. Keep it up. This is the only thing about the airline that’s free any more.

    Thanks

  461. Well, I must congratulate you on your popular blog site. I have so much to learn about travel benefits. Your fans’ comments tell me that I need a little private consult. Any advice about that?

As to lounges, they are a lot more convenient than scrolling down 4,000+ comments to enter a contest – especially the Amex Plat Centurion Lounges.

I really admire your entrepreneurship with your site.

  462. I like the serve yourself booze in the international lounges. Don’t know why AA makes you wait at a bar in the US.

  463. Gary, lounges allow me direct access to airline customer service reps without the lines.

  464. A great place to relax and more comfortable seating especially I am handicapped. The food, drink and atmosphere are appreciated.
