Wow Air flies from Boston and ‘Washington DC’ (cough, Baltimore) to Reykjavik and beyond.
And their one-way fares really do start as low as $99 to Iceland, with connecting flights beyond an add-on price. The return flight starts at under $160.
Boston – Reykjavik is available at $99 during April, May, June and October.
$99 really is the all-in price for the outbound.
Return flights start at $164.39.
They’re a low cost carrier, so expect fees or everything.

You’ll pay for anything more than an 11 pound carry on. Checked bags are expensive — the first checked bag is $48 online in advance, $67 at check-in, and if you are forced to gate check that’s $95. That’s for non-stop service, bag fees are higher for connecting flights.
If you travel super light, and don’t especially care where you sit on the plane (and I don’t know what their seat pitch or legroom is like), you can get some pretty amazing fares for US-Europe travel without the need for a pricing glitch.

I’ve run into that for intra-European flights with EasyJet and RyanAir. The flight starts out costing something like 12 Euros for an advance purchase ticket. But by the time you finish paying for things like credit card usage fees, and seat belt rental, you might as well be flying with BA or LH.
That title probably deserves more than one “+” symbol.
Fares out of BWI are really poor.
I needed a ticket from “mainland” Europe to Iceland this spring and, after checking things out, decided to boycott WOW. The bag thing is really a classic gotcha because, unless you’re flying with a partially filled plastic bag, you’re going to be at 11 pounds — and then the bag fees are usurious. This is MUCH worse than what Spirit does.
Still, if you’re in the BOS area and want to visit Iceland, the deal’s OK, especially since the flight is short and you won’t need much. Given the bag nonsense, I would consider it a $360 roundtrip fare.

Gary, is Iceland considered Europe by most FFPs? Just wondering if I can fly to the alliance’s hub in EU and connect to Iceland on an award ticket.
Pay to use seat belt is new to me and IMHO, just provide fodder for the barristers when a European cut rate airlines loses a plane. I gave thought of bringing up the fee for credit card usage at the recent FTU.
Actually, I’m more concerned that D.C. clowns goals are ‘protections’ for ‘no clue’ consumers and creditors can’t make these ‘no clue’ consumers fairly and without common sense. A recent example is Toyota providing car loans based on the tried and true credit worthiness of the consumer, except the Feds decided certain minorities were getting the shaft. IMHO, lenders might just follow the led of banks and all consumers will feel the pain.
