News and notes from around the interweb:

• A 2014 design concept for the new Singapore Airlines business and first class seats. These aren’t likely to be the actual seats, but fascinating nonetheless. Business class entails suites with doors.

• A look at what led United to change their coffee provider including some skepticism that ‘FreshBrew’ ever really ‘won a taste test’ over the Starbucks United had served for a decade and a half. (HT: Point Me to the Plane)

• Delta is sticking it to their top elites trying to book extra legroom seats starting with travel in May. Here’s a startling illustration of how it works, and why it should be concerning. Even Delta Diamonds will be unable to select extra legroom seats during the booking process. They will have to buy their tickets first, and then ‘clear an upgrade’ into extra legroom coach seats.

• American cut many of its flights to Venezuela after the country imposed currency controls trapping about a billion of the airline’s dollars. Now as a result of currency controls American will no longer sell its Argentina flights inside Argentina. They will only issue tickets outside the country and in foreign currency even for travel departing Argentina. Given the significance of American for the market the country ought to be glad that’s all that’s happening.

• Register to earn 2500 Starwood points for using Keyless room access with the Starwood app at one of the properties that offers it between November 20 and February 29, 2016. (I didn’t have the best luck with it at the W Times Square.)
