Starwood Just Changed Their First Quarter Promotion and Made It Better

Starwood’s winter promotion was kind of weak but I have to give them a lot of credit because apparently they realized that and made it richer.

This was the original offer:

Between January 11 and April 30 you can earn double points of stays 2 nights or longer, and you can earn 250 points “in popular destinations.” Here are the participating hotels for the 250 point bonus (which is per night and doesn’t require a two night stay).

Spa at the Andaman

They’ve added an additional bonus points offer to the promotion.

Double points (on 2+ night stays), 250 points per night at participating hotels, and threshold bonuses for 15 and 25 nights during the promotion period is actually not bad (given the overall state of hotel promotions these days for sure).

Registration for the promotion is required.

  1. I would take this as another sign of softening economy and the travel sector. Also, Starwood is particularly vulnerable because of the uncertainties associated with the acquisition/merger. Because of this, perhaps, we could see even better SPG promotions this year.

  2. So let’s say I have 15 non-consecutive stays of 1 night and therefore qualify for *zero* of the double-points opportunities – do I still qualify for the threshold bonus?

(Not trying to be difficult, this is actually my typical business travel activity)
