Citibank Adds Jet Airways as a Points Transfer Partner

Premium Citibank ThankYou Rewards cards — like the Citi Prestige Card and Citi ThankYou Premier Card — let you transfer their points to airline miles and hotel programs.

Citibank has added another points transfer partner to the ThankYou Rewards program: Jet Airways JetPrivilege. They’re not a member of any traditional alliance, but part of Etihad Airways Equity Partners.

Jet Airways is an Indian airline which flies to North America, you can search their award space at Delta.com, since American AAdvantage is a Jet Airways partner Toronto – Amsterdam on Jet is a ‘hidden’ way to use American miles to get to Europe.

There are a handful of unique redemption options, intra-India awards are priced route-by-route, but premium cabin long haul awards are very expensive. I don’t expect Jet to be a frequent transfer partner I’ll use, but it’s a great sign that Citi continues to build out the ThankYou Rewards airline transfer program.

  1. Gary,
    When Citi announced the cuts to the Prestige last July I think they thought the other card issuers would also be cutting benefits to their premium cards. Instead, Chase released CSR the next month and Amex enhanced the Platinum card twice. Do you see Citi beefing back up the Prestige?

  2. As an India-based flyer who used to be Platinum with Jet Airways (as well as sitting on 700k miles!), I find that their program to be practically hopeless – and as you said Gary – way too expensive for any long-haul premium awards using miles…

    Especially when their agents/call center/s cannot even understand what you are saying or writing!

Flew them a few months ago inter India and liked their service compared to other Indian airlines, they also joint with delta a few months back so u can now book delta to Europe and connect with Jet to India and found descent award availability for may flights and will seriously consider using Citi as transfer option when finalizing my booking next week
