Sharing Citi ThankYou Points Now Capped at 100,000 Per Year

There’s a new limitation on sharing Citi ThankYou points, moving them from one person’s account to another — up to 100,000 points per year.

This is not a limit on combining points in your own different accounts. It’s a limit on transferring points to other people. The ability to transfer points to anyone you wish though, even limited to 100,000 points per year, remains an underappreciated benefit that’s not matched by other card issuers.

An Advanced Way to Find the Cheapest Airline Tickets

Yesterday I encountered what seemed like a pretty strange phenomenon. There was a roundtrip United fare between Chicago and London for under $600.

There was a mystery because some systems showed it available for Saturday departures only, and other systems showed it every day. And Momondo was finding even cheaper fares, still.

Why all the discrepancy? And how can you use that to your advantage to find the cheapest fares yourself?

Very Strange Cheap United Fare to London, and Even Cheaper Deal From New York

There’s a $529 roundtrip fare between Chicago and London on United with travel available October, November, and January through March. They actually mention prices “as low as $412” but I haven’t found anything sub-$500 on United between these two cities.

There’s even cheaper fares out of New York – $361. And both of these fares illustrate interesting ways that airfare booking seems to be changing.
