New Uber Drag Queen Feature and an Inaugural Flight Where Everyone Had to Come in Costume

News and notes from around the interweb:

  • Uber will deliver on demand drag queens in Seattle today

  • I’m told the new Alaska Airlines Seattle C Concourse lounge opens to the public June 30.

  • Rather than imposing booking fees — like Lufthansa and British Airways — American Airlines will pay agencies $2 per segment booked through a New Distribution Capability connection. This means lower costs to American and the ability to sell ancillary services.

Garner said the connection will provide access to information not commonly available through conventional pipelines, including in the area of duty of care, such as day-of-travel flight changes, confirmation that a traveler has boarded and the overwater position of flights.
It also will provide access to American’s unique content and ancillary products, such as corporate bundles of services, including those designed for C-suite occupants, and self-service waivers and favors.

  • American Airlines is beginning to earn more off its share of revenue from higher end shops at New York JFK terminal 8. Airports move to more expensive stores because both the airport authority (or whatever entity they’ve assigned revenue to) and dominant airline in the terminal will generally earn a piece of the gross, not just take in lease payments.

  • Everyone on this Jetstar inaugural flight had to dress up as Spider Man (HT: Jeff T.)

  • Nok Air flight crew welcome ‘Britney Spears Live’ to Bangkok with a cover of Toxic

  1. I had the opportunity to visit the new Alaska Lounge this morning prior to its opening. It’s a beautiful space, with a serene design inspired by the Pacific Northwest, a water feature, high-backed chairs, outstanding runway views, and an upgraded food selection. There is even a full kitchen, though Alaska will stick with snacks in the foreseeable future.
