A roundup of the most important stories of the day. I keep you up to date on the most interesting writings I find on other sites – the latest news and tips.
FARE DEAL: Hawaii From $88.50 Each Way (Several Cities, Not a Mistake)
Alaska Airlines is running a sale for flights to and from California in April and May. That includes $99 Hawaii flights in each direction, good for Honolulu, Maui Kauai, and Kona.
The best deals are from Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Jose and Sacramento but Portland and Seattle have $139 flights too.
United Suspends New Pet Bookings, Tries to Figure Out Why it Kills More Dogs Than Anyone
United’s poor handling of pets has been in the news a lot over what’s really just the last week but given the barrage of media feels like far longer.
After forcing a dog into an overhead bin where it ultimately died, shipping a dog to Japan by mistake, and then loading a third dog onto the wrong aircraft — so for PR reasons they actually diverted that plane to deliver the dog to its proper destination, keeping all of the passengers onboard waiting, they are finally acknowledging what I’ve been saying for years: United has a problem with how it handles pets.
Buy a Marriott Timeshare, Get Citizenship
The Anichi Resort & Spa in Dominica will be opening late next year as part of Marriott’s Autograph Collection. Timeshares here come with one unique perk: Dominica citizenship.
Now Delta Lost a Dog. After Four Flights, an Overnight, They Gave a Man Someone Else’s Puppy
Josh Schlaich got a call from an out of service number letting him know his dog — sent to him by a breeder — wasn’t going to make it. He called Delta several times to find out what happened and he was “hung up on.”
Although United is statistically much worse, their PR team is probably cheering that they can now say “it’s not just us.”

100% Bonus Flash Sale: Buy IHG Hotel Points As Little As $0.005 Each?
There’s a flash sale just through March 22 offering a 100% bonus on IHG Rewards Club points. That should mean $0.00575 per point, which is a lower price than what I value the points at.
Strangely I’m actually seeing the price come up even lower than that.
China Eastern Denies Flight Attendant Orgy (Despite Video)
Here’s the video of a purported airline crew sex tape which has been banned by the government.
China Eastern is denying the tape involves “at least six naked flight attendants having sex and dancing in Madrid.”
Lufthansa Cancels Passenger’s Ticket After Misconnection and 5 Hour Delay
A reader writes that they were flying Lufthansa business class from Nuremberg to Rome via Frankfurt using United miles. Their flight out of Nuremberg was delayed due to weather and they were rebooked onto a later flight.
They say they went to board “30 minutes prior to” the new delayed departure time but their seat was “given away, me and a half dozen people.”
