IHG Rewards Club is out with its new promotion and to the surprise of absolutely no one on earth it’s called Accelerate.
Registration required for the earning period between September 1 and December 31. You’ll be able to take advantage of a targeted set of offers — various tasks that earn various levels of points. My offer is to earn up to 40,650 points.
I can earn the full 40,650 points in just 2 stays provided they’re strategic: 5 nights at 2 Holiday Inns that include 2 Saturday nights, at least one of which that’s a cash and points stay and 1 that’s at least 4 nights long.
Since each person may receive a different Accelerate offer, what’s yours? (I’ve seen other offers including double points up to 40,000 points and 37,200 based on stays across brands and co-brand credit card spend.)
I value IHG points at half a cent each. This offer pairs nicely with Chase’s best offer ever for the IHG® Rewards Club Premier Credit Card of 125,000 points after spending $3,000 on purchases within the first three months of account opening and really ramped-up earning:
- For the first 12 months this card will earn 25 points per dollar at IHG hotel properties. That strikes me as much stronger earn than any other card at any other hotel chain. And since it comes with Platinum status you’re earning 40 points per dollar spent in total at IHG properties.
- And for the first 12 months it will earn 4 points per dollar on all other spend which makes the card worth using.
The card also comes with a free night after each account anniversary year at eligible IHG hotels worldwide; a free reward night on points stays of 4 or more nights; and Global Entry or TSA Precheck fee credit (up to $100 every 4 years) as well.
