Southern California Disneyland Becomes 4th Disney Park To Shut Down Due To Coronavirus

Disneyland in Southern California will close Saturday through end of month (though of course that closure could be extended). Disneyland resort hotels will remain open through Monday to let guests make travel arrangements.

Hong Kong and Shanghai Disneyland properties closed due to the virus. Yesterday it was announced that Tokyo Disney would close through early April as well. Three staff at Disneyland Paris tested positive for the novel coronavirus but that park remains open. Some have criticized that as a Mickey Mouse decision given the risk of spread through public gatherings.

Shanghai Disney resort will re-open shopping on Monday. The Southern California theme park will keep its open air shopping open as well.

This is the fourth time that the California park has closed. It stopped operations the morning after the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, after 9/11, and following the Northridge earthquake.
