Hyatt Agrees To Honor Original Details Of Promotion

Hyatt’s current promotion is 3,000 bonus points every two nights starting with your second eligible stay between March 20 and May 26, 2023 (capped at 45,000 points). Registration required.

World of Hyatt co-brand cardmembers earn an additional 500 points when those nights are at participating hotels in Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Hong Kong, London, New York, Paris, Tokyo, or Washington, D.C.

What qualifies as the ‘first stay’ during the promotion period matters since earning starts only with the second stay. If you had a long stay planned, indeed at one of the properties being extra-bonused, you might even want to mattress run a stay in advance of it to make that your second stay rather than your first.

The promotion FAQ originally said that stays with a checkout date on March 20 would count towards the promotion

9. I have registered for the promotion and have a stay on March 19 with a checkout on March 20, 2023. Will the night count towards the promotion

However Hyatt changed the FAQ to say March 21.

Members were provided guidance that stays ending March 20 would count as their first stay, and therefore their next one would earn bonus points. However that’s not how the promotion was set up, and Hyatt changed the language. That was… sneaky?

I reached out to Hyatt a week ago on this. They worked through it, and will honor the original guidance.

Thank you again for bringing this to our attention. We understand the inconvenience this has caused, and we are working to ensure that any World of Hyatt member who was registered for Bonus Journeys on or prior to March 20 and had a qualifying stay with a checkout date of March 20 will receive credit toward the Bonus Journeys promotion.

Since this issue was brought to our attention we have been working towards a solution to honor the original FAQ..At the end of the promotion, activity will be reviewed and accounts will be credited by June 15, 2023. We appreciate your patience while we worked through this.

Anyone counting on March 20 checkouts to be their first eligible stay will need to wait for the manual sweep to see the adjustment (and therefore for their next stay to be bonus-earning). Kudos to Hyatt for agreeing to fix this.

Comments

  1. Hyatt’s programming staff needs to read the terms more carefully. In 2021 they incorrectly programmed the business card double EQN offer, only awarding the nights after account opening, rather than back to the start of the promo period.

  2. Kudos to Hyatt for agreeing to honor the original offer terms as they were written? Isn’t that just the baseline expectation?

  3. “Thank you again for bringing this to our attention” — they’re the ones that *altered* the written guidance! This wasn’t just some tech snafu. Were they just hoping no one with a loud enough platform would notice?

Calling it “sneaky” seems quite generous. No kudos from me.

  4. Honestly, Hyatt has been horrible about this issue. They were crediting people immediately with the issue but they refuse to do so now. They want me to wait 2 more months to receive the points I rightfully earned last month. Such bullshit. Hyatt really pissing me off with this promotion
