Capital One currently has lounges at Washington Dulles, Dallas – Fort Worth, and Denver. They are due to open dining-focused spaces at Washington’s National airport and New York’s LaGuardia. And they’ve just announced a new lounge for New York JFK terminal 4.

New York JFK terminal 4 hosts Delta Air Lines flights, and also a number of other carriers like Aeromexico, Air Europa, Air India, El Al, Etihad and more.

The new terminal 4 lounge – also the terminal homes of American Express and Chase lounges – will be 13,000 square feet with expansive tarmac views. What we know so far about the new lounge:

• A bodega with selection of coffees and bagels
  
• Specially-trained cheesemonger with local cheeses, cured meats, and paired wine and beer selections
  
• Continuation of their local brewery partnership including their own take on “the perfect airport beer” thinking about iconic moments, like having a beer at a ballpark or with a parent when you turn 21. There’s also a certain taste as you ‘set off for adventure’ or a journey at an airport and each lounge has a beer meant to evoke and commemorate this.
  
• Local art including a hanging glass sculpture as the lounge focal point with “small glass stones suspended in a cascading form to symbolize the varied and colorful experiences throughout Manhattan” and another glass fixture above the main bar with “hand-blown glass and brass elements that emulate branches and vegetation inherent to New York City.”

While Capital One lounges get crowded – people with access want to use them, because the food and drink options are really good! – I find that they handle queues better than American Express. Their virtual queueing works well, and once inside things aren’t too crowded to enjoy the space.
