News and notes from around the interweb:
- While I’m not especially concerned about this pistol, I understand passenger concern and I think that outweighs Southwest flight attendants misunderstanding photography rules and how they relate to the airline’s Contract of Carriage:
So, to better answer my question. When a passenger sees this, and discreetly let's a flight attendant know….
What is the correct protocol? pic.twitter.com/Dt4cTbhqJV

What would you do?
See something like, verify is not right,
Say something discreetly without causing an issue. And the flight attendant says I will be in trouble when I get off the plane for not deleting my pics. @SouthwestAir
This is retaliation. This is not okay!!

I don't think threatening me with having a team of people meet me at the gate and threaten to remove me from your flights is a good look. I reported the issue that your flight attendants, and gate attendants neglected to deal with. You retaliated against me.

Oh, nice… a 2nd vs. 1st Amendment show-down… but, because it’s not the ‘government’ restricting anything, rather, it’s a private company, probably whatever the airline says goes.

“Pistol?” That looks more like some sort of training prop than anything else.
@1990
Dollars-to-donuts, and without knowing any of the facts, some folks will walz right in and (with 100% certainty) inform the rest of us as to the political affiliation of the person that “planted” this gun on the aircraft. If Gary linked this site to FanDuel or DraftKings we could make some serious cash playing the odds!!
Clearly the right answer is:
If you see something, say nothing and drink to forget. /s
All that orange, but doesn’t look like a kid’s toy to me so this is almost certainly something for training and can’t actually shoot. Perhaps a leftover from a security test?? And they’re trying to hide it because they are somehow part of the mistake?
Waiting for Tim Dunn to say:
1) They would never find a gun like this on a Delta flight
2) If they DID find one, the Delta flight attendants would generate 20% more revenue from it than any other airline’s employees
@Lucky Larry — Oh, yes… looks can be deceiving. Now, your wise talk of ‘donuts’ above is making me want to use my Amex Gold $7/mo Dunkin credit… did you know that you can only reload your Dunkin gift card account up to $120 or so via the app? So, now I learn that I must start spending the credits so that I can use more of them. There’s always an angle isn’t there…
Looks like a Tazer
That is not a firearm. It’s a Byrna. The orange color is a dead giveaway. (Google it)
Looks like a Byrna. Non-lethal. Maybe legal on a plane, I don’t know.
That person’s Twitter account doesn’t seem to show those posts anymore when I visit their profile. It’s just full of voter fraud election denial stuff from 2024.
There’s enough actual antisemitism that idiots like this who make up falsehoods do a huge disservice to the cause they purport to serve.
Am I the only one who can ID a NERF gun? Have you never seen a toy before?
Either way, look at her account, the woman is a nutjob.
I’ve heard Rabbi Shmuley Boteach on the radio before. I would take his word over the hotel unless they can prove everything they allege. It sounds like they are throwing mud at a wall and trying to see what sticks.
