- With the U.S. imposing large Visa overstay deposits (which just encourages coming here illegally), the West African nation of Mali has decided to hit back imposing a $10,000 visa bond on visiting Americans. That… will not help them. Our policy makes it more costly and cumbersome for legal visitors to bring value to the U.S. economy. We’re relatively wealthy, we can afford to be stupid. Mali cannot afford to mirror our self-flaggelation.

I don’t understand the waiting in line thing. I’ve had SkyClub access now for about 20 years and before that NWA Worldclub. If the line is more than 5 or so people long I’m heading to an airport bar or finding an empty gate.
I’m fine with removing the guy with the hat.
If the MAGA folks don’t want LBTQ, Pro Palestine, and other speech restrictions, then their offensive hats and shirts fall in the same category.
Can’t have it both ways.

@David your argument is complete BS. Pax and employees have been brutally harassed for wearing anything the MAGA folks disapprove of. So, sorry, not sorry. If you don’t have to look at a Free Palestine pin I should not have to look at a MAGA hat and if grandpa doesn’t like it he can stop antagonizing people and stay home.
Thank you, @Doug and @Parker, for stating the obvious, actual ‘common sense’ approach here. However, such ‘dress codes’ are challenging to enforce, because, that obligation falls onto gate agents, flight crew, etc., which really shouldn’t have to ‘police’ passengers’ attire. So, it’s kinda, all or nothing, isn’t it? Ideally, passengers wouldn’t go out of their way to try to offend others; and, hopefully, airline personnel can de-escalate as best as possible.
If the hat said what it said, the person was mocking MAGA and what the Trumpublican signature bill this year is doing.
Parker: I think David is being sardonic. “LBTQ” isn’t really a thing, but “LGBTQ” is closer to being a thing, so no one really wears “LBTQ” clothing.
Airlines aren’t removing pax for pro-Palestine pins. The issue has been those worn by FAs. And, so, no, people shouldn’t be removed for MAGA hats. But in this case, it was about the vulgarity (and most likely the wearer’s attitude about removing the hat). Of course, any pax wearing a pro-Palestine pin, attire supporting LGBT+, MAGA gear, or even a cap for that college football team I hate shouldn’t be booted by the airlines. And, any pax brutally harassing (really just harassing) a person wearing such things should be kicked off the plane.
@This comes to mind — Ah, so, vulgarity is the issue. What if the ‘profane’ words are implied, like, ‘Let’s Go Brand…’? If we work through this together, I think we can produce a pamphlet to help…
Good for Mali. US is completely unreliable, cut off all aid with no warning, and added tariffs, so they should discourage US business and visitors. Most of the global economy is outside of the US, and most of those countries are much more ethical.
I’m glad Delta enforces common sense standards. Don’t wear clothing that is blatantly offensive. Better yet, dress like a professional and be an example for your family and others

Most of the criticism of the BBB bill was from the MAGA folks. I have no problem with calling the hat MAGA, but I don’t see that warrants removal. FAs, yes, they should not be wearing Palestine pins–you don’t espouse positions while acting for your employer, or in the attire of your employer. But this was a passenger, not an employee.
Did nobody read the linked story? The captain claimed that he (the captain) is ultra MAGA and the guy was kicked off for failure to remove the hat after being instructed to do so. It was about the vulgarity. But, go ahead imagine it happened however you want to imagine it happened: that’s the norm here.
