American is offering double miles for flying new oneworld member airline Qatar between November 15 and December 19, 2013 and again January 6 through January 31, 2014.
Registration is required prior to travel using promotion code QRDBL. All paid published fare classes are eligible to earn double redeemable miles.

A similar promo is available from all oneworld members. That consistency in bonus offerings for new partners is one thing the alliance does very, very well.
Yes – great news – I am in the middle of a 4 leg schedule with QR. When I tried to register on Friday when this was announced I could not do so on the AAL website. I called the Exec Plat desk and they were incredibly helpful. It transpires that AAL is migrating the Aadvantage Programme to new servers and it was explained to me that it would not be possible to register prior to Monday the 18th. of November. Did anyone else out there hear about this server migration – is this to do with the merger? The guy who talked with me was fantastic – above and beyond – and assured me that my journey that stared from LHR on Friday afternoon the 15th. at 16:25 GMT would qualify as would all 4 sectors and that on Monday morning he would see that I was registered and that the Promotion would be secure. Well done AAL for the service level done on this and what a great promotion – incidentally the service levels on QR are outstanding albeit the lounge policy is bizarre as OneWorld Emerald seems not to count with QR for their premium lounge access at DOH.
@William – I am sure the timing is merger-related, or at least guess that it is, it’s a project that’s been in the works for several years
Hmmm… Have a trip to Bangalore in January and was deciding between LH transiting FRA, crediting to US, or QR transiting ORD and DOH, crediting to AA. Assumption is that the two programs will combine PQMs next year. Double miles may tilt me towards QR even though the routing isn’t quite as convenient.
@William I had the same experience on Friday and got the email 15 mins before I was boarding a QR flight to the US from Singapore. I couldn’t register online but the phone agents eventually helped me out. They took my account info and also my ticket number and claimed that the flights would be eligible. We’ll have to see! The QR lounge policy is odd since as an AA Exec Plat they wouldn’t let me in the 1st Class lounge saying that the premium terminal is carved out of the agreement with One World.
