American Airlines has 5 separate e-newsletters, and they’re offering a new promotion where they’ll give you 500 miles for each e-mail you’re not currently receiving that you opt into.
Sadly, I was already subscribed to all of them. I think I’ve gotten miles for this in the past. The lesson from the old days, when e-mail signup bonuses were commonplace, was to never accept an email subscription without getting miles for doing so. Offers are far fewer these days, so when something like this comes along jump on it. And a spam-collecting address from Yahoo, Hotelmail, etc. is always useful in this regard.
Is this a targeted offer? Doesn’t make mention of the 500 miles per newsletter signup which you’re not already on.
I did not see the 500 miles offer either. Then I refreshed the website and saw this:

American Airlines Travel Brain: Offer is valid for recipients of this mailing only. No registration is required. American Airlines AAdvantage® members will have the option to receive a special offer by subscribing to one or more of the following email products (AAdvantage® eSummarySM, AAirmailSM, Net SAAver Fares®, and AAdvantage® promotions) that individual is not currently subscribed. This special offer includes 500 AAdvantage® bonus miles for each additional subscription. To receive the special offer, individuals must subscribe to their chosen email product on the Promotion microsite, be subscribed for a minimum of three (3) months, have a valid email address on file with American Airlines and must subscribe by 11:59 pm EST on February 27, 2009. After 90 days, the AAdvantage® bonus miles will be automatically deposited into the individual’s AAdvantage® account and will post within six (6) weeks after the three-month enrollment date. Individuals are eligible for the new email subscription special offer based on the individual’s account profile as of January 3, 2009. Any changes or updates past this date will not be reflected in the special offer.
P.S. I signed up BEFORE I realized that I did not read anything about the 500 mile offer, before I refreshed the website. About 10 minutes later, I got an email saying:

It looks like you will get 500 miles for each email you subscribe to, even if the offer did no appear on teh sign-up page. At least I hope so.

I always unsubscribe from any emails I don’t need in order to rinse and repeat the free miles. This will be my 3rd lot of miles for the same subscriptions in less than 3 years.
Now I realise I didn’t follow my own tip (http://theglobaltraveller.blogspot.com/2008/05/more-miles-3-free-tips.html) to diarise the end date for unsubscribing once more.
