American Airlines 767 Windshield Shatters, Flight Diverts to London

American Airlines flight AA199 from Milan to New York JFK made an emergency landing at London Heathrow yesterday when the plane’s windshield shattered.

Here’s the diversion:

Passengers weren’t in the air nearly as long as expected..

Fortunately diverting to London meant that there were additional American Airlines flights and flights on American’s joint venture partner British Airways, so passengers were rebooked on London – New York flights.

  1. And TODAY that same flight cancelled after an engine valve malfunctioned and could be repaired. Ask me how I know (hint… I’m on my 10th hour here at MXP)!!!

  2. The old 767’s seem to have this problem, It should further noticed. A 767 from SBA (an airline from Venezuela) flight from MIA-CCS was diverted mid-flight about a year ago for the same exact problem
