United is selling miles with up to a 100% bonus through August 15.
This is the cheapest I see United selling miles but it’s certainly not the only time they’re available at this price, for instance here and here.
You have to buy 30,000 or more miles, though, to get this price and full bonus.
They’re going to require you to log into your MileagePlus account to see the bonus offer, which has led some folks to wonder if the offer is targeted, but it doesn’t appear to be.
You can buy up to 150,000 total miles (75,000 plus 75,000 bonus) for $2821.88 with tax for a per-mile cost of 1.88 cents. (Someone still needs to go through the hassle of getting a tax refund when using the miles for something other than domestic airfare.)
This is a little more than what I value the miles at. But it’s closer than it’s ever been. I’m not going to buy the miles speculatively, but I would certainly buy to top off an account to the level needed for an award that I’d be interested in booking within the next few months.
Purchases are processed by Points.com so airline fee credits and credit card bonuses for airline spend will not apply.

IMO only worth it if GS
